Dark amber. Decent head. Very wood dry ESB. Paired with a good meal and good company.

oh god an english pale ale. Way too many nonflavors going on here. Light water could be the best descriptor? Some malts, not much. No hops at all.

Pouah c’est trop sucré avec une amertume collante et dure. Je sais pas si les IPA d’avant ressemblais à ça mais je préfère les versions modernes!

On tap at the brewpub. Hazy gold amber pour, thin bubbly white head. Aroma is faint, light caramel malt, faint grassy hop, light peach. Taste is bitter, nice bitter resinous hoppiness, light caramel. Palate is med bodied, light carbonation.

On tap @ L’Amere A Boire. Clear orange/amber pour with white foam. Garbage malty IPA. A lot of caramel, grass, and pine. Slight orange rind, I suppose. Tastes like candied apples and caramel sauce. Bitter grass, pine, and citrus rind. A lot of toasted bread and malts. A little too malty and sweet. And by a little, I mean completely.

Clear amber pour. The nose is spicy and a little bit fruity. Yeast is a bit dirty with some lingering betterness. Meh - stick to the lagers if you come - they’re top-notch but this one is a pretty big miss.

On tap at the brewpub. Fin de siècle IPA 6%  A clear amber-copper with a filmy beige head. The nose is lightly hoppy with a good biscuity malt quality. More UK than US style. Smooth soft mouthfeel, the taste is tangy sour malts and lightly bitter piney hops with a touch of soapiness. Ok but a bit of a let down.

Burnt orange color at their brewpub. White foamy head. Grapefruit and bitter fruity taste. Very average IPA. Can’t seem to find many IPAs I like in Montreal.

(1012-130214)

Tap. Moderate light bread for the malt, moderate hebs for the hops, light dough and drying leaves for the yeast, with some dried fruits and a hint of hardboiled egg. Head is small, frothy, off-white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky tannish red. Flavor starts lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, slick, with a carbonation between soft and lively. A nice drinking Amber Ale with some good notes and only one off one.
