On tap at l’Amère à Boire. Black with a medium ever lasting light brown head and nice lacing. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt and slight caramel notes. Taste of chocolate, brandy (?), caramel and roasted malt. Mouthfeel is thin for an Imperial Stout. I didn’t find it very drinkable.

Nitro tap at L’Amère à Boire, pours black with a medium creamy tan head. Aroma of subtle roasted malts and some toasted nuts - no coffee or chocolate qualities. Flavour of smoothly roasted malts, which are very subtle, bittersweet chocolate and not much else. Medium-bodied and smooth-as-hell mouthfeel from the nitro pour. Very good, but missing a bit of oomph / flavour.

Coffee, chocolate, this one is light but tasty. It’s not complex but very enjoyable. It fits the kind of beers that l’Amère à Boire makes.

On tap at the Brewpub. Poured a jet black with a solid beige head. Prominent notes of chocolate and roasted coffee beans in the aroma, with subtle resinous hop undertones. Very tasty brew, the malts lend a rich flavor, loads of cocoa and coffee character without being overly sweet. The hops are less present than in other imperial stouts I’ve tried, though they yield a bitterness that gives the beer a balanced profile. Finishes with a lingering molasses touch on the tongue. Quite smooth on the palate, the body is a bit thinner than expected although it makes for a very drinkable result. Nicely done.
