A pitch black beer with a thin "nitro" dense brown head. The aroma is slightly roasted combined with slight chocolate notes. The flavor is rather mild with notes of coffee, leading to a nice roasted dry end. Nice, but I’d like more power.

Dark black. Full bodied, soft maltyness, chocolate and salty liquorice flavours, lingering bitterness.

Draught, 7.5% at the brewpub. Black colour, small stable creamy brown head. The flavour is sweetish with some chocolate. Alcoholic aftertaste, but rounded off by some oxidised port notes. Low carbonation. Quite good and quite well-rounded.

On tap @ L’Amere A Boire. Black pour with a khaki head. Heavy roast and ash. Some hints of smoke and a bunch of coffee. Kind of chocolatey, I guess. Some burnt nuts, too. Flavor is pretty heavy on the smoke, actually. A lot of coffee grounds and some sweetness of graham cracker, and cocoa powder. Lightly acidic on the finish.

Black body with tan head. Aroma is sweet, coffee, light chocolate. Taste is strong coffee, sweet, roasty/smoky. Full body -- impressive for such a "low alcohol" imperial stout.

Deep dark beer with moka creamy head. Bitter chocolate aroma. Nice bitter choclate taste, with alcool warmth and creamy mouthfeel. Biody is superb! Tasty stuff.

Nitro tap at L’Amère à Boire, pours black with a medium creamy tan head. Aroma of subtle roasted malts and some toasted nuts - no coffee or chocolate qualities. Flavour of smoothly roasted malts, which are very subtle, bittersweet chocolate and not much else. Medium-bodied and smooth-as-hell mouthfeel from the nitro pour. Very good, but missing a bit of oomph / flavour.

On tap at the Brew Pub. Poured a black color, with brown edges and a small sized off white head. Chocolate, dark fruits, roast, and some bitter coffee finish.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2005 Draft... This beer rocks!... The lighting is not great inside this brew pub, but this beer is pitch black as far as I can tell. Very creamy, well-tanned head with excellent retention. The nose is of dark chocolate, espresso and red wine with touches of licorice and wood. For such a heavy beer, the flavor is very well-balanced and nicely bittered. Lots of burnt, charred notes in the flavor, but not overwhelmingingly scorched. Chocolate notes. Full-bodied and creamy with mild carbonation. Medium-length, moderately bitter, roasty finish. Very nice!
