On cask at the brew pub. Pours a clear orange with a medium to large white head. Light delicate hops on the nose, Very faint orange and citrus peels, soft bitterness, malt and light toast. Moves into a soft malty finish with a bit more bitterness. Very easy drinking, somewhat delicate.

Doesn’t have much of a smell. Pours orange clear with some lacing. Really nothing going on in character here, just malt for the most part. Lacks any real hop profile. On cask at the brewpub.

Pinte (cask) à L’Amère à boire (Montréal). Robe ambrée foncée, semi-opaque. Collet blanchâtre qui se dissipe totalement. Légère dentelle. Arôme de houblon terreux et de malt. Goût semblable. Pas très ronde en bouche. Rien de particulièrement intéressant.

On tap at L’Amère à Boire, pours a clear orange amber with a small bubbly white head. Aroma is lightly fruity (berries and green apples), a bit of perfume and earthy dry hops. Flavour is very earthy and dry, with dry toasted bread, zero sweetness or fruitiness as detected in the nose. Soft mouthfeel, with a lingering dry breadiness that is almost a bit metallic. Decent pale ale. The bartender mentioned that this wasn’t the best batch of the pale ale, which is reportedly more hoppy and slightly fruitier. Would be happy to revisit it on a subsequent visit.

(printemps 2007)

Cask. Pours an orange body with an off white head. Biscuit and cereal tones. Light malt bill with some grape like candy notes. Reminds me a bit of nerd candies. Light grape skins, and a bittering hop finish. Nice.
