Pours a deep golden almost Amber color with a finger of foam. Nose is a bit of grass and some toasted malts. Palate is clean just a bit more malt apparent than hop flavors. Hops add nice bitterness to clean up the finish but overall this was the least appealing of their offerings.

Warm of course. Has a creamy pallette. Sticky foamy head. Orange peel and dank. Not that great. Had at their brewpub

On tap @ L’Amère à boire. Clear amber with à small spotty white head. Aroma of English hops, mineral and earthy notes. Taste is mild with mineral and earthy notes. Light bitter finish. Light body. Moderate carbonation. Simple, mild yet effective English Pale Ale.

On cask at the brew pub. Pours a clear orange with a medium to large white head. Light delicate hops on the nose, Very faint orange and citrus peels, soft bitterness, malt and light toast. Moves into a soft malty finish with a bit more bitterness. Very easy drinking, somewhat delicate.

Doesn’t have much of a smell. Pours orange clear with some lacing. Really nothing going on in character here, just malt for the most part. Lacks any real hop profile. On cask at the brewpub.

Pinte (cask) à L’Amère à boire (Montréal). Robe ambrée foncée, semi-opaque. Collet blanchâtre qui se dissipe totalement. Légère dentelle. Arôme de houblon terreux et de malt. Goût semblable. Pas très ronde en bouche. Rien de particulièrement intéressant.

On tap at L’Amère à Boire, pours a clear orange amber with a small bubbly white head. Aroma is lightly fruity (berries and green apples), a bit of perfume and earthy dry hops. Flavour is very earthy and dry, with dry toasted bread, zero sweetness or fruitiness as detected in the nose. Soft mouthfeel, with a lingering dry breadiness that is almost a bit metallic. Decent pale ale. The bartender mentioned that this wasn’t the best batch of the pale ale, which is reportedly more hoppy and slightly fruitier. Would be happy to revisit it on a subsequent visit.

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2013 on tap and cask at brewpub. light golden-orange with a decent white head. biscuity and fruity malts, english character here - earthy and floral, also citrus, some perfume notes too. low carbonation, light body, short bit balanced herbal-grassy finish. nice.
