Cask... Cloudy, golden ale with a small, whispy, white head. Great retention. I got absolutely nothing out of the nose... totally nondescript. Maybe a little smoke in there, but that’s probably due more to every patron smoking than the beer itself. Does anyone in Canada not smoke? Perfectly-balanced flavor, but flat and watery. Just a touch of bitterness. Light-bodied with almost no carbonation. Finishes watery and flat. This "real ale" sucks! If you’re going to serve "real ale", serve it from wood and make sure it’s a brew that naturally carbonates... otherwise, I’m not interested.

ad on cask so apparently more bitter. Pilsner-like purfumey aroma. Real ale bubbles in head, on orange tinge. English yeast, noble hops. Nice low carbonation. Drying finish. Maybe less acidic with food. Some caramel, not so balanced. Light mouthfeel. A nice one.

(Rating #340)

Perfect for the style. Cask aged, hand pulled for that extra point of perfection. Pours a pale amber, SLIGHT cloudy orange tinge, with a foamy off white head that leaves serious lacings, and a creamy low carbonation body. Mouthfeel is creamy, a little viscous and leaves a chewy trace on the molars. Taste is dominated by earthy malt dancing with ripe treefruit and a heavy dose of floral/grassy hops, undertones of bitter, a slight tangy note, sweet nuts and a trace of fresh hay. Aftertaste is dry, medium bitter and finishes with a creamy fruityness, almost like a cream-cicle. All in all, it’s not what you’re comon northamerican pale ale drinkers expect. They expect a highly hopped APA. or a malty IPA, or some super malty bass copy/tribute, but this is VERY close to the mainstay of many british pubs. ’Pint of bitter’ would describe this perfectly in manchester region. Enjoy. CHEERS!

A cask ale, amber-orangeish hue, with a frothy beige head, with crystal malt, floral hops, hint of fruitiness in the aroma, follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a fruity note, floral hops, crystal malt, leading towards a dry bitterness finish.

It was drizzling rain and getting pretty cold when I walked in to the pub, so a nice, tempered cask ale was just what I needed.
Bronze/orange, with a frothy, dishwater head. Oaky, cidery and apricot aroma with some citrus overtones.
Low carbonation (duh), some biscuit, mandarin oranges and a brisk, green tea astringency that creeps up on you as you drink down your pint. Easily one of the finest cask offerings in town, even though the selection for this type is pretty slim in the area.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cloudy, orangish light brown with a bubbly, beer engine head that lasts. The aroma is orange blossomy hops with a very tiny amount of caramel--quite gentle. Serving temperature was appropriate and the engine was nice, but the beer is really lacking in caramel or toffee for a nice pale ale. Still very quaffable. Light body and watery with a very low amount of carbonation and maybe just a tad astringent.

I like the hopping. Good body and mouthfeel. Little aroma. An English styled ale (except for the pump tap...).
