19/IV/13 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: XI/2015 - (2013-339)

Clear blond to light orange beer, small irregular off-white head, unstable, non adhesive, some small sediment floating around. Aroma: very sweet, sugary, lots of amaretto, orange peel, Maraschino cherries. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit fruity start, Maraschino cherries, bit sugary, orange peel, honey, some citrus. Aftertaste: grains, sweet malts, bitter hops, bit fruity, sugary touch, chemical rubbery ending.

Medium, quite dense, off-white head over hazy yellow-orange beer, lively carbonated and some lace. Bit fruity nose, caramel wafers, faintly garden weeds, and lots of sweet malts. Bitterish flavour, but with a very consequent malty underbuilt. Unfortunately, the bitterness remains rather raw, indifferent, vegetable. There’s quite a bit of oxydation there too, difficult to blame malts or hops specifically. Retronasal, soy oil, oriental marinade. Slightly burning MF, hops are a tad agressive, quite slick, medium bodied. Some balance achieved, but not very distinctive beer. Wondering what the exact goal had been.
