Black in color with thin tan head. Hops are in the nose with roasted malts. A bit of smoky flavor. A very interesting take on the black ipa style.

Firkin at Johnny Brendas. Pour a deep brown with tan head and mild lacing. Notes of chocolate, roasted malts, faint hop presence and mild bitterness.

Has a nice roast malt, hop aroma. Dark black light head. Taste is a decent blend of darker malts and enough hops to still give it an ipa feel

FROTHINGSLOSH (4843) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 19, 2013
Sampled on draft this beer poured a black color with orange highlights and a medium sized foamy dark tan head that left good lacing. The aroma was toasty coffee, faint cocoa and moderate fruity hops. The flavor was dryish, bitter and roasty with notes of cocoa, coffee and mixed floral hops. Medium length dry and roasty finish with lingering cocoa and hops. Ok and better than most in this style.

On tap at the Knick. Rich malty and chocolate nose, with light coffee grounds and light hops. Dark black clear with thin off-white lacing head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Dry roast black patent malt, dusty with carbonic tang. Dry bitter finish and after. Tasty black IPA.

Foxbush (1258) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - FEB 2, 2013
Draft at Capital Ale House in Fredericksburg. This was a nice find. The ale poured a deep black with a wonderful full tan head. The head laced down the glass. The aromas were of roasted malts and grain. Hint of pine on the nose. The hops did not dominate the ale. It was milder than I expected. It was excellent with the salmon. The mediium body ale had average carbonation. The finish was bittersweet.

Draft at capital ale house downtown. Pours black with an inch of khaki head. A bit of malt on the nose. Slightly sweet on the tongue. The finish has a bit of a hop bite to it. Solid effort from Lancaster.
