A combination of three different hops gives this ale an uplifting citrus flavor. Boss Hog gets its amber hue and full-bodied mouth feel from a very generous addition of four different malts. The lasting bitter finish welcomes another sip of this refreshing brew.

Bomber. Nose very big and hoppy with a strong caramel base; pine with other dank wood and lighter herbal character, spice. Pours orange with an off-white head. Semi-dry, big caramel and wood, spice, strong in stinging alcohol, verrry slow warmth accumulation. Wooden, light astringency; good, traditional "hard" hops without any of the juicy character that’s en vogue. Citrus and amber malts, very slight toast, a little complexity there (some rye?), and medium bitterness. Full body but not that heavy. Finish is dry and the palate is fully cleansed. A very good bridge between the super sweet IIPAs of a decade ago and the juicier newer versions that have very little bitterness.

Pours a clear dark amber. Has a strong floral hop aroma. Has a sweet floral hop aroma with some malt and spices. A slightly bitter aftertaste but a mix from the hops and malt.

22 ounce bottle. Bright amber orange color. Medium-sized rocky beige head.Subtle fruity malt nose. Nice toasted malt flavor has a spicy bitter hop backdrop. Notes of toasted hazelnuts and burnt caramel. Spicy hops are somewhat subdued for a DIPA. Pleasant drinking, but just average for the style.

Bomber from Whole Foods PM. Poured hazy dark straw with off-white head. Nose was caramel malt, piney hops, fruit. Tasted heavily caramel malty with a heavy resiny hop load, finishing syrupy and clean. The hops weren’t overpowering, and the ABV was well hidden. I guess I would have liked a heavier hop flavor in this, as the malt seemed to overpower the hops. Still, this one was a nice libation and paired well with cheddar cheese. God damn it, Roscoe, go get those Duke boys!

4oz pour at Max’s Hop Fest 2013. Pours a burnt orange with zero head. Nose is sweet, pears, apple, lemon, malt. Piney flavor, grapefruit, lemon, malt, caramel, brown sugar. Bitter finish. Could probably be bumped up in both hopping and malt.

On tap at Benjamin’s. Mild hoppy nose, not what I’d expect from IIPA. Deep amber clear with thin head. Medium bodied with medium-high carbonation. Very mild beer for IIPA. Malt sweetness with butterscotch, caramel, and light hop bitterness. Very little bitterness anywhere, with sweet smooth after.

Very hoppy with varied undertones dependent on hop varietal used. Recent batch was less citrus but still had a full flavor.

Pours a clear golden/orange with a medium lt tan head. Aroma of mild citrus...very faint. Flavor is fairly balanced between caramel, candied fruits, light citrus, and earthy bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium/full and the finish is dry and earthy/bitter.
