We are proud offer one of the few surviving examples of this traditional English style sweet stout. A bold, dark ale bursting with roasted barley dryness and mellowed by hints of chocolate and coffee.

Mild aromas of cocoa powder and vanilla. Black with a ruby shine, somewhat lasting beige head. Flavors reflect aromas, milk chocolate, a little sweet, some hop bitterness for balance, some dust. Medium bodied, very smooth.

Received in a trade from BMoosey --- Poured out of the bottle into a glass. Opaque black with light tan head that lingers for a bit. Roasted coffee aroma with a hint of chocolate. Seems like a pretty good example of the Milk Stout style. The roast is what shines through. Very good finish. Real nice beer.

This is the second time I have given this beer a chance and also the second time it has disappointed me. Overall what disappoints me the most is how the beer seems thin in body and weak on flavor. On the plus side it does have a lot of potential given the slight coffee notes and the roasted malt flavors. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drought at International Great Beer Expo (Meadowlands). Dark brown, spongy tan head, roasted malt aroma, slightly bitter coffee taste, long finish. Not as sweet as you’d expect from a milk stout.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle at Middle Eastern Cuisine in Takoma Park, MD. Opaque, brown-black with a tan head and very good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and light molasses. Taste of chocolate, caramel, and sweet roasted malt. Medium/light body and medium/low carbonization. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One finger espresso crema head, black in color. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Taste of roasted malt, molasses, some coffee, lite bitterness. Creamy, lite carbonation. After the initial taste the beer looses flavor and it just falls off. Good beer but missing something.

6 pk purchased from the brewery. Pours medium bodied with ample head that lasts throughout. Smells of medium roast coffee beans, hot chocolate powder, faint vanilla bean. Taste is sweet, earthy, surprisingly pronounced smoke flavor. Faint carbonation that decreases with temp increase. Subtle fruitiness - cherries? berries? A really good, exemplary milk stout.

A: Pours a black stout with, as anticipated, no light coming through. single finger latte head dissipates over a minute or so leaving a scattered spotting of the same. S: A big spread of butter on the beer. Some anise, molasses, resin. Okay nose, nothing special. T: Oaty, creamy, dark fruit (plum/fig), some bing cherries in there as well. For a stout, this isn’t really doing it. It’s drinkable, but not particularly impressive. M: Medium body with high carbonation. Only slightly slicking, but then dries. O: Below average IMO. Bottle split at Bruces Pad, from Wegmans Downington, 09/12/13. Light black with a moderate tan covering. Nose is light roast, lactic tang, dark fruits, touch of berry fruit, dark toffee fudge. Taste comprises dark toffee, light cocoa, lactic tang, fruit cake. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry closure with light roast notes. Ok.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Colin. Almost clear dark brown beer with a small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light, airy and a little soft. Light airy malt, touch of roast. Dry lactose. Finishes airy and dry. Meh!
