lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA Jan 18, 2007 On tap at the Independence "Brewpub" in the Philly Airport. (My flight was delayed, waht else do you expect me to be doing?)
Pours nealry opaque black with a 1/4 inch head that gets thin and wispy quick. No lace. Smells of mocha, roasty and sweet. Very roasty.
Taste brings the roastiness to the fore underpinned by just enough lactose to give some balancing sweetness. Mouth is perfect. Smooth, just the right amount of carbonation. Very drinkable, very balanced, just might be the perfect milk stout. I can think of none better that I have tasted.
KnN (312), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Oct 9, 2008 Pours a nice dark brown with a thin off-white head. The aroma reminds me of caramel corn, kind of like cracker jacks. You can tell this one might be sweet. The flavor is more of the same. Caramel, malt, a little bit of roast. This is a tasty stout. douglas88 (818), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Oct 5, 2008 Bottle thanks to Thaichile. Pours a dark brown/black color with a medium brown head. The aroma is full of roasted flavors, some hazelnut, coffee and light hops. The flavor is similar; some bitter hops and chocolate flavors along with a large roasted malt and coffee aspect. Quite dry and not exactly sweet, more of a bitter chocolate and coffee bean. Very nice. MaltOMeal (321), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA Sep 27, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours black with a nice, light brown head. Smell is of oat and coffee. Taste is roast malt and coffee. Mouthfeel is medium, but not as thick as I like stouts to be. still, very drinkable. peter (350), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 17, 2008 dark body with a thin tan head, Nose is a little lactose and roast. Some black patent in the mouth. Not bad, but a bit thin. Vac (2253), San Diego, California, USA Sep 17, 2008 Pours with a black body topped by a medium thick, light brown head with a good amount of lacing left behind.
