3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
FROM NOTES: October 21, ’13.
A: Semi-sweet chocolate, milk chocolate, nuts and coffee.
A: Pours a nearly pitch black a two finger khaki shade head.
T: Follows the nose, albeit slightly subdued. Roast grains lead the way with firm cocoa notes but they aren’t as decadent as the nose suggested. Some dark fruits, toasty, nutty and earthy hop notes also present.
P: Medium body and a lot of carbonation for a stout.
O: This is a good beer, not a great one, I was expecting a little more in the after-taste and a bigger mouth-feel and the somewhat sweet taste I have had in other milk stouts was not there.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice! Very bitter and toasty. Pours black with great head and lacing. Mocha head. Quite a bitter finish and lactose adds texture but not a huge element to aroma. Bottle.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: The body has a dark black look with a a one inch thick off white head. The head holds on well and makes some nice lacing.
Smell: The aroma has nice toasted/roasted maltiness and mild sweetness.
Taste / Palate: The flavor is nicely balanced with mellow toasded and roasted maltiness. It has a nice molasses like sweetness and equally balanced bitterness. It’s palate is a light medium and very drinkable.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours almost black with quick disappearing, khaki head. Smells basically like chocolate and roasted coffee note. Tastes like dark chocolate, coffee, yum. Palate's a bit light for me. Overall, it was just ok, the taste was more like a Porter.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours deep brown into a shaker. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Ozone and chocolate aromas. Sweet and smooth with chocolate and espresso front to back turning dry with an earthy bitter finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Transfer from BA reviewed 1-29-12 -
Poured from bottle into pint glass.
Appearance – Pours a deep dark brown, nearly black. The head is nearly on existent with no lacing at all.
Smell – Dark chocolate and coffee are the first to be detected. The chocolate gains a bit of milky sweetness aroma as the time develops, with a bit of caramel mixed in.
Taste – Roasty malts of chocolate and a little bit of coffee first met the tongue. It sweetens a bit in the middle of the taste profile, going more towards a milk chocolate like flavor. This however is soon lost to a, actually, quite bitter flavor which develops at the end; still chocolate, but a very bitter chocolate.
Mouthfeel – Very moderate in body and in carbonation. Easy drinking and fairly normal. Nothing too special.
Overall – I was expecting a bit more from this brew, as I was hoping form something with more potency in flavor/aroma. I really didn’t get much of the lactose and sweetness flavoring in their, which was a bit disappointing.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Poured black with a tan head. Big cocoa aroma. Taste was good, chocolate, roasted malt and a pit of burnt sugar. It was just a bit thin on the palate though. Not too bad. I would buy it again if I could get it in Ohio.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(2012 backlog recollected in abstinentia) Draught@McGillin’s Olde Ale House, PA 09/2012. What could be better with lunch than an Old World style stout sampled in a PA Irish pub...was the reasoning. Served underchilled, hence first picked up on the smooth milk chocolate notes before noticing they were rather due to a Nesquick cocoa powder dust, working in accord with subtle roast. Quick and dry finish. Probably more of a smooth treat when served at higher temp.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Having this side-by-side with Terrapin’s Moo-Hoo, this one pales in comparison. This is still a solid choice, but the flavor is more simple and the feel is more thin than I’d like in a milk stout. It makes it more of a stout you’d sip on on a hot summer day, but it’s more simple. Solid chocolate flavor with a good roastiness... it does about everything you’d want in a milk stout to a tee, but it’s a bit thin, and I just didn’t enjoy the flavor quite as much as Moo-Hoo. This would be an easy one to enjoy in any situation. Quite light and tasty, just nothing extraordinary.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Opaque, brown-black with a tan head. Taste of chocolate, caramel, and sweet roasted malt. Medium body and low carbonization. Would give it a higher rating if it was thicker or creamier, but it's not.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Mild aromas of cocoa powder and vanilla. Black with a ruby shine, somewhat lasting beige head. Flavors reflect aromas, milk chocolate, a little sweet, some hop bitterness for balance, some dust. Medium bodied, very smooth.
