3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Light copper color with minimal head. Mildly nutty aroma backed up with bread dough and caramel. Heavier bodied than their lager, which it obviously should be. Not bad.

Dark orange-amber body, thin off-white head, spotty lacing. Sweet caramel and bready malts. Faint florals and generic fruitiness. Medium to full bodied, mellow carbonation, sweet, rounded finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A beautifully bright clear copper colored beer with a big white head when poured vigorously. Fades vigorously too, to just a thin wispy veil.
Very low carbonation.
I can pick up hop presence but of no distinct flavor and sweet malt pulling up the rear.
Nice malt flavor, sweet tasting from Vienna and Munich malts. Barely any hops to speak of, but it isn’t suppost to be a big player.
Smooth and clean, a nice lager style.
Myself, I think it could use a bit more carbo’s and be a little more aggressive in the hop area.
Drink well my friends

This one looks like an apple cider. A bit of apricot and dates in the aroma. Light and thin on the palate. Wheaty flavor malty.

(bottle) Deep amber-tawny complexion with traditional white head. Thin aroma of malt. Smooth and mildly malty. Nice palate that is easy to session. One of the better domestic Oktoberfest beers.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Reviewed 8/27. The last beer of Augustfest. 12 oz bottle poured into a stein.
A: Pours a lighter copper color. Not much head, it starts off as a one finger offwhite color, before fading to a thin collar in no time. Not impressive looking.
S: A bit hoppy; it’s a little earthy and grassy, suggesting a healthy bill of noble hops. The toasted, caramel malts are typical, but there’s a touch of nuttiness to the aroma I find myself enjoying.
T: Less caramel-y than other marzens, this eschews the typical profile for more of a nutty toffee presence. The hops only come through as a grassy crispness on the finish. It’s OK, but not as enjoyably drinkable as others in the style, likely due it’s flavor profile being somewhat buttery.
M: Typical of a marzen, this has a neutral, nondescript finish and a bit of lingering sweetness. Could be a little less heavy on the palate, though. Well carbonated.
O: Probably my least favorite of the five, though it’s not terrible - just uninteresting. Nor does it have the drinkability I expect from a good marzen, either. I like it better than Heavy Seas’ version, for what it’s worth.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz. bottle purchased @ Beer Heaven. Color is nearly clear amber without much head or retention. Nose is sweet caramel and has a grainy element. Taste has sweet caramel grains with an Earthy, dank hop. Has a bit of nuttiness. Mouthfeel / texture are a bit syrupy. Medium body for the style with soft carbonation. Overall, if you like this style sweet, here is a decent one.
