Bottle. Reddish brown beer with a strong white head. The aroma is lightly caramel, and the flavour is bitter with a mellow toffee'ness. Overall a good premium bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle from Asda. This bottle was 4.8%. The colour is bright amber, with a tan head. Malt and yeast are prominent in the aroma, and the taste, with slight carmel, and bitter finish.

This ruby ale is a good session bitter ale filled with hop and malt flavours, a benefit of this style. The malts play a key feature in the aroma of this beer, biscuits and nuts are detectable to the nose and the hop brings a citrus bitter flavour to the table. The blend of the two is well planned and reduces the bitterness of the hops but still leaves some zing to keep you interested. A good session ale, slightly strong.

Decent strong/best bitter. Predominant malt, a sweet touch of caramel then a drawn out bitter finish, with a fruity grape note.

Cask at the Magpie, pours a dark red-brown with a fast-settling head, chocolate and a little red wine aroma, palate is initially lightly sweet, fruity and malty, but then a rather unpleasant acrid bitterness sets in, along with a dry woodiness. A bit odd.
