3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Adenila (1470) - DENMARK - MAY 16, 2012
Bottle in a small restaurant in Paris, shared with mom. Clear dark brown with a medium brown head. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma along with wood, mild smoked fruity or apple tree along with mild fruity yeast esters. Flavor is medium sweet with a light roasted bitterness. Quite good.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 molly75 (189) - (Madrid - España), ITALY - MAY 5, 2012
[ASPETTO]
marrone scuro, opaca, residuo nel fondo bottiglia
[SCHIUMA]
color nocciola, fine e compatta, buona presenza e persistenza
[OLFATTO]
Merce rara!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20 erickok (1086) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - DEC 28, 2011
Black bodied and tan head. Low carbonation. Fairly rich aroma of milk chocolate, some smoke, nutmeg, bit of toffee and rye. Nice. Body is a bit disappointing, quite thin and bit as full flavoured as the nose indicates. Needs to warm up to reveal more complexities. Gets some stout like qualities. Tasty and interesting, but not world changing. (33cl bottle)
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 Metalchopz (1429) - Quebec, CANADA - DEC 14, 2011
Originally rated October 2005. Ok... last of the 8 beers my girlfriend brought back from her trip to Europe. Best before date is 31/03/07. Pours a deep brown-red with a creamy tanned head that has decent retention. Some patchy lace is left. The aroma is mostly of Belgian yeast, with hints of spices. Wow ! Did not expect that. A smoky kick right up front. Definitely is more of a rauchbier, than a stout. The buckwheat comes through in the finish. Hints of molasse are also found much later in the aftertaste. Very nice different light beer for a dark ale.

Not much aroma. A bit of woodyness and farmhouse. Pours opaque black with a light brown head. Falvour is rustic and funk barnyard. A little bit of roastiness.

Thanks Pascal (jaghana) for another great bottle. Dark brown body with puffy head. Nose of dark chocolate, malts and spices. Quite nice actually. Taste is a bit blander with a paper, chocolate and vanilla finish. Pretty good.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 humlelala (402) - DENMARK - AUG 11, 2011
(75 cl from La Tapenalgue, Vannes) This is _not_ a stout. It is a brown ale as the commercial description says. Pours a clear, dark brown with rich, off-white head that laces the glass. Pleasant aroma of caramel, brown sugar and smoke. Oily on the palate, full-bodied, lively carbonation with a sweet finish. The taste is mildly bitter with moderate sweetness. Girlfriend says: "It’s a bit watery but in a pleasant way."

10th April 2009 Opaque black beer, thin white head. Short lived. Smooth sour malt with a hint of roastiness. Subtle licorice. Palate is very slightly soft. Minerally carbonation. A light stout - tasty and drinkable.
