COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle shared by dad @ home. Clear red brown color, medium to full sized off-white to beige head. Aroma is malts, roasted malts, lightly earthy. Taste malts, slightly coffee, earthy, average bitterness and slightly roast. Average to medium body and carbonation.

Bottle from trade with Calisky - many thanks, Fred! The beer has got a deep black colour with low head and medium body. Aroma of torf, woods and roasted grains. Taste of dry roasted rye and grains, woods, leaves, bitter coffee and malt. Dry finish with an intense stout character. Earthy. Good one.

330ml bottle poured in a chalice. A: Pours a dark brown/black colour with a nice and dense foam head. Medium retention and some lacings left S: Smells oak. Nice sweet smell. Candy sugar, caramel and roasted malts. Reminded me a whiskey or a good port wine. T: Woody taste. Quite smooth. In fact, it tastes like it was bit stronger. Difficult to imagine that it’s only 4.5% ABV beer M: Light to medium body. Good carbonation. Moderate on sweet and bitterness O: Definitely a drinkable beer. I could easily drink "half crate" of it... :p [ BA Review @ 10/23/2009 ]

33cl Bottle, bought in Paris, thanks Manon! Almost black colour, light-beige head. Aroma of aspartame, some dark fruits, hint of coffee/mocha, dusty. Flavour is very watery, some roasted malts, coffee, hint of mocha, chocolate, light-bitter finish. As said, even for the ABV this is very watery. Not a bad beer though.

Bouteille 33cl, BB 11/04/2016. Courtesy of and shared with Cécile.

’Buckwheat stout’ from Bretagne with light beige, creamy, thin but stable head and very dark, almost black colour with wine-red hue, clear. Grainy aroma with sourish buckwheat touch, creamy but thin mouthfeel, lightly sweet with soft roasted bitterness in the finish. Not too bad but something tells me using buckwheat in a stout could have lead to better results than this.

Part of a pack from a French supermarket. Pours mahogany with a decent cream head. The taste is a bit odd. Burnt cardboard with some sharp spiciness. Thin bodied too. Improves as it warms with some chocolate notes coming through.
