At first the beer was a bit plain, but after some warming up it got a lot more taste. Has a vanilla spicy taste. Original and good.

33cl fles. Donkere kleur. Witte schuimkraag. Eerste smaakimpressie : chocolade, koffie, gebrande mout. Lekker biertje! Bedankt Ruud Korteschiel van "De Abdij" te Zwolle!

bottle from Saveur-Bière. Brown colour, mid-sized off-white head. Bready-grainy nose. Light-bodied, stout-like dryness with a shy sweetness and grainy malty flavours.

Dark color with thin frost. Aroma is not very full, quite light and nothing particular, therefore i was expecting a dull taste. What a surprise at the first sip! Full mouth, malty, no bitterness, roasted, bit of coffee and a strong red frui finish. Awesome surprise!

Bien noire, col moyen. Aromes sur le cafe bien torrefie et cacao. On y trouve egalement bien present un arome que j’ai du mal a identifier meme si bien present et que j’associerais maintenant au sarasin. Corps un peu leger. Agreable

Bottle 330ml (Saveur)
Deep ruby color, small steady beige head. Aroma has chocolate, some tobacco, berries and hints of vegetables. Light-bodied. Light toasted and grainy flavor, slightly caramalty. Short finish. Quite watery, reasonably clean dark ale.

Clear dark brown turning towards black, highe light brown foam head. some lacing. Aroma is bit hard to specify, not the ususal bunch. Taste is quite nice, some metallic to it, some coffee, some licorice. Interesting beer. (Utrecht 201312)

330 ml bottle. BB 11/10/2015. From saveur-biere.com.
Black colour with a small greyish tan head. Roasted malt, coffee, mild bitterness, mild vanilla sweetness and dark chocolate in the aroma. The flavour is much more delicate... quite nice actually... malt (mildly roasted), marmalade, molasses... very smooth. There’s no bitterness (of the aroma) in the flavour at all. Very drinkable. Really nice surprise.

Brown with a thick frothy, tan, lacy, lasting head. Smells of nice sweet caramel malt, roast and dark malt, coco with nice woody grain tones. Medium oily frothy body. Tastes of dark and roasted malt without too much bitterness balanced well against a sweet raisin and caramel, toasted malt taste and finishes sort of thin with lingering barley. More of a porter if you ask me. Superbly we’ll balanced and lots of moreishness here. A great beer.
