A dark/black beer with a thick head. Aroma of yeast and banana. Taste of roasted malt, smoke and yeast. Original and very good.

Oct 5, 2008 Extremely lively, dark ruby coloured beer with a very thick creamy white head. Toasted malts and quite a strong bitterness is allied with a spicy and rather tart taste that I quite like. One of the better Brittany beers.

Sep 13, 2008 Very dark brown/ruby red beer with a thick creamy tan head. Aroma is quite toasty and malty. Lots of wheaty spiciness and a fairly prominent coffeeish toasty character. Fairly sweet maltiness with a bit of off-flavour (diacetyl). Slightly coffeeish with a simple wheaty backbone. It’s more of a light stout than a dunkelweisse. Soft palate with a faintly berryish fruitiness. Meh... ok, but not good.

Jun 16, 2008 Bottled Harpe Noire. 75cl bottle at Het Blauwershof: Dark chestnut brown. Tall tan and very creamy head. Aroma of smooth chocolate. Upfront roasted malts with a touch of smoke and even meat. Mild earthy spice plays well with the smoke and roast characters. Flavor of spiced dark malts with low chocolate and some raisin. Roast comes in a little more in the middle followed by hop bitterness. Light herbal astringency. A bit sharp at times. Long dry roast with sugary finish. CO2 a bit aggressive at times.
