COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Ungstrup (26193) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - SEP 18, 2005
UPDATED: FEB 8, 2010 Two year old beer. The aroma has strong notes of malt, nuts, caramel, and some alcohol. The flavor is powerful with strong notes of nuts, medium notes of roasted malt, and alcohol, leading to a dry roasted, nutty, bitter, and a bit alcoholic finish.

Fresh rating in 2005. An opaque brown beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma contains strong notes of alcohol, but also some notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with so strong notes of alcohol that it burns the palate, but ofcourse that gives the beer strength, it also contains notes of prunes and metal - the metal probably from the alcohol. Too strong for me and unbalanced for me.

Flavour is spices, raisins, caramel malts, toffee, some cinnamon and clove. Nice sting on the tongue in the finish (of the alcohol). Pleasant and well aged thing.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2010 2010-01-14, vintage 2008, 1 year old, 7-4-7-3-14=35
Dark color, almost black; short head retention. Simple caramel aroma, light chocolate. Reasonable body structure, but weaker than expected; caramel and chocolate flavor, with only light sweetness; strong sweet liquorice flavor too; the alcohol is well hidden. Drinkable but nothing special.

2003-02-01, 7-4-9-4-16=40
Dark amber, brown, hazy; the head disappears quickly. Strong malt aroma, barley-wine-like. Strong malt body, sweet in the beginning, good body structure; liquorice, caramel. Much equilibrated at the end. After some time, it loses some freshness. Correct palate.
A very rare example in the French beer panorama.

Bottle, 11.1%. Powerful aroma, liquorice and coffee. Slightly vinous and yeasty. Black colour, small light brown head. The flavour is strong, sweet, liquorice, yeast. Good warming alcohol. There is a bit much yeast flavour, other than that I like it a lot.
