0.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20 Glouglouburp (4784) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 2, 2012
In short: A brown ale with a strong cleaning product flavor. Gross
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed probably fresh approximately one month after purchase
The look: Mahogany body topped by a medium dark beige head leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: Nose is scented air freshener, Mr Clean™, plastic. What the hell is that? Taste is almost as awful as the aroma. Toasted bread crust, some toasted nuts, a whole lot of plastic, strangely acrid, Pine-Sol™, other artificial products. I’m a bit puzzled by this one, can a beer develop so much clean product flavors or did I get I get a bottle that wasn’t rinsed properly after being sanitized. Anyway, whatever the problem was, I got ripped-off buying this bottle. My first beer from this new brewery, and I guess it’s pretty safe to assume that beginner’s luck doesn’t apply to them.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20 czar (1211) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 24, 2011
pours cloudy medium dark brown with a overly tall beige head, good retention and lacing. overly lively - disturbing. light body. cough drop, roasted and caramel malts, medium hopping - grassiness, yeasty, dusty, slightly boozy. if it wasn’t for the palate, drugs and hops are well blended.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BlackIPA (331) - Rochester, New York, USA - OCT 1, 2011
Smells like dish soap, industrial cleaner and roasted malts. Seriously. Perhaps a little chocolate in there. Pours a dark brown, almost black with an off white head. I detect a little coffee, lots of roasted malts, some hops. This is a very average imperial brown ale. Very decently priced though.
