3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, USA - JUL 4, 2007
12 ounce bottle from Beers of the World, Rochester NY (June 2007). Sampled at cellar temperature from a Unibroue glass. It pours out a faintly cloudy dark copper-bronze with an immense lasting creamy buff head that leaves thick chunks of lacing….mild citrusy hops struggle against a bit of butterscotch, and succeed overall; some nice toasty, woody notes help as well ….a bit syrupy and dull/flat in the body, despite decent carbonation ….bitter throughout, but not dynamic in any way, moderate sweetness in the middle, bit of honey and maple….dry and dull, slightly chalky to finish....rather mediocre IPA but drinkable enough and certainly containing no major flaws.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BeerHawk (1647) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Bottle. Poured orange with a slight off-white head that settled to a ring and left light lace. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, soap, and licorice. The flavor found citrus hop and an initial slight metallic taste. Light body and a light hop aftertaste.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 beerbill (2939) - Laurel, New York, USA - APR 13, 2011
12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a large linen white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of malt that is lightly sweet, orange and to a lesser extent grapefruit. The flavor has none of the sweetness and little of the flavor offered in the aroma. There is some fairly dry malt followed by some moderate bitterness that is decidedly more pith than fruit. Medium bodied. With so many good IPA’s out there, I couldn’t see myself drinking this one with any regularity.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Boliv (1045) - New York, USA - JAN 30, 2011
Bottle. Pours slightly hazy, reddish-orange, and explodes into foam once I pour it. After the initial froth faded away, I poured the rest of the bottle; the head settled into a frothy, 3-finger beige head with long retention. Aromas of citrus rind, bitter twigs and citrus, McIntosh apples, and caramel. The flavor is sweet caramel malt, a hint of toffee, and bitter citrus rind. High carbonation and a lively mouthfeel make this tough to drink. It’s alright; didn’t seem too fresh, perhaps and old bottle?

Sweet aroma, very light on the hops. Yellow in color. Overall a bit sweet and light...didn’t get good notes on this one.
1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 Rciesla (5498) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - DEC 10, 2010
Bottle. Pours a hazy golden body with a large white head. Fizzy and huge, oxidation present. Metal copper pennies, difficult to drink. Faint citrus, a big malt and metal bill. Awful.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 yesyouam (976) - Fairport, New York, USA - MAY 4, 2010
Landmark IPA is a dim, cloudy, amber ale with some particles in it. The huge, pillowy head rises out of the glass like an off-white marshmallow. Even through the dense head, I smell lots of fresh juicy hops. There’s a faint candy-like sweetness and notes of grass, hay and earth. It’s medium bodied and super smooth. The finish is a little chewy, but it’s clean. It’s a quite well balanced flavor. There’s ample green bitterness and biscuity malt and a little alcohol flavor that actually works with the other flavors well and provides a touch of warmth. That little touch of candy-like sweetness kinda makes it seem like hop pop. I know they say "soda" in Syracuse, but this was brewed in Buffalo so I’m calling it "hop pop". There’s nothing really unique about this beer. It’s just a solid IPA and I really dig IPAs.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Leighton (4100) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 28, 2010
Bottle. A nice, ruby-brown pour with a thin, though creamy head. Faint earthy hop aroma. Flavor is weird. Tastes like grass and plastic. Some bitterness on the tail. Basically no sweetness to balance this guy out. At first, this brew was not enjoyable, but the flavor grew on me slightly. Still, a little too odd.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 williamherbert (1064) - Syracuse, New York, USA - MAR 12, 2010
Shows a hazy bronze color, nice and dark. Cloudy. Pours a full finger of head. Looks more smoky than most IPAs. It’s almost brown. Looks thicker than usual to me. No lace.
The smell is a flowery hop scent, balanced with a sweet biscuity malt. Has the subtle aroma of an English IPA, but with some extra hops. Surprisingly good and sweetly hoppy.
The flavor is a nice flowery hop taste, with a bitter/sweet hop bite at the very end. It gets more bitter as it warms (which is a good thing in this guy’s book) and leaves a bitter hoppy aftertaste. Though it may smell English, it’s definitely more of an American IPA.
Feels creamy and thick. Leaves a buttery smooth film on the tongue. Feels really thick ... too thick? It’s nice bitter/flowery IPA overall. Might be too bitter to have a lot of them, but a good onesy. Definitely the best of the Landmark beers I’ve had.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 blkitson (155) - Westerville, Ohio, USA - JAN 4, 2010
very strong with the hops taste - in fact it is very bitter. Nice reddish brown color but not much of a head. Don’t think I would drink it again
