3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rudolf (2245) - Buffalo, USA - APR 3, 2005
Reddish amber. Quite malty with some lemony hops - very sweet. Light to medium toasetd malt, decent bitterness but not overpowering. Grassy.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 beerbill (2939) - Laurel, New York, USA - APR 15, 2011
12 oz. bottle. The label reads this was brewed by the Paper City Brewery in Holyoke, MA. I did not realize this beer is retired when I bought it, there is no dating on the bottle. When I opened the beer, foam oozed out of the bottle continuously and made a mess on my counter. Pours slightly hazed amber with a moderate-large sudsy tan head that is fed by lots of bubbles rising in the beer. The aroma is dusty malt with a trace amount of piney hops. The flavor is a decent dose of malt up front followed by some moderate bitterness that is for the most part flavorless. Prickly mouthfeel due to the high carbonation.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Boliv (1045) - New York, USA - FEB 26, 2011
Bottle. Pours slightly hazy and red with a medium tan head. Aromas of citrus peel and sweet grass with some caramel. The flavor is bitter grass and rotting raisin and apple peel. Very high carbonation and dry. This was a tough one to get through, certainly not an easy drinker. Not good. This may just be an old bottle, as I see it’s retired. I hope they don’t make this anymore. [618]
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Leighton (4100) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 12, 2010
Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a faint, white head. Citrtus hop and caramel malt aroma. Lightly sweet with some earthy, dirty bitterness. Medium in body with average carbonation. Finishes with some mild sour notes and lingering bitters. Could be a bit old.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mansquito (1827) - washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 9, 2010
Bottle says this is brewed at Paper City Brewing in Holyoke, MA, so it seems like maybe they started making this again. Anyway, I got it at the American Beer Distributors for a super cheap $7 a six-pack. Pours a really nice looking creamy white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is not that powerful, but the malty side shines through. Hops are there, but not in force. Really has an Irish Red feel to it, but with tangy hops biting at the tongue. Slightly roasted malts. I would say this is more malty than hoppy. The finish is the hoppiest part I would say. Tastes like a really good amber ale like Prohibition or Hopback. Definitely newly brewed and not skunked.
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 jgb9348 (3497) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JAN 11, 2009
Nice deep ruby coloured body with strong brown tints and a fast-dying tan head. Aroma of super fresh hops, nice tart fruit, potent malt and even a tad of nuttiness. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour up front that fades into maltiness and leaves a bit of the nuts on the palate. Aftertaste is quick and mild, nothing going on really. Overall, nothing more than a dry-hopped amber or red ale that doesn’t do much for anyone. This one should be overlooked unless you really want a crummy beer from Syracuse. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 31-December-2005 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Bottle from six-pack which say its from Syracuse dated 2004? Pours a deep amber body with a medium biege head. Nice complex aroma. Roasted malty, floral hoppy with strong nutty scents. Caramel malty flavor. Buttery smooth full mouthfeel. Nice bitter hop finish. Very enjoyable APA. The store close to me is trying to get rid of these for cheap, so I might be getting a few more.

Pours a clear copper amber with a thin wispy white head. Has an earthy lightly piney hoppy aroma with some toasted caramel malty presence. Starts semi-sweet with some earthy bittering hops and toasty caramel malty notes before a thinner finish. Fairly true to style, just not all that exciting.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 zach8270 (2831) - Henrietta, New York, USA - JUL 5, 2006
(bottle - 12 oz) Nice and deep copper color with a light tan head. Lots of hops in the aroma with a bold citrus and floral aroma as well. Flavor is dominated by floral hops and a subtle sweetness from the malts. Aftertaste is pleasantly bitter and leaves the slightest touch of sweetness afterwords. Really nice pale ale.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Immy (1948) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - JUN 16, 2006
12 oz bottle. Copper pour with a thin light tan head. Citrus hop nose, some caramel and toffee notes. Burnt caramel flavors are immediately overcome by a peppery bitter finish with each sip. I imagine this started out a red, then they hopped it up. A rather interesting take on the style, and it works overall.
