Bottle as "Landsberger Schwarzbier" from trade with Erzengel - thank you, Gabriel! The beer has got a deep black colour with a low head and medium body. Aroma of roast, malt and bread. Taste of roasted malt, leather, grains, caramel and earth. Malty-roasty finish with a bitter touch. Didn’t really like it.

Tasting at dedolle. Aroma of malts, sirup. Taste is ryebread but with not butter, but still very refreshing. The taste is lingering decent

Vielen Dank an Erzengel! Dunkle rötlichbraune Farbe, geringe beige Schaumkrone. Geruch leicht röstmalzig, erdig. Geschmack leicht röstmalzig, gering hopfig, bitter, Karamell, etwas schwach aber gut trinkbar!

Rating from 2005. Sehr lakritziges Schwarzbier. Allerdings treten die vollen Schwarzbiertöne erst im Nachgeschmack zu Tage. Der Beginn ist etwas mild-laff, fast schon wässrig. Sehr süffig mit angenehmen Röstmalz-Lakritztönen. --> 12

18th Jan 2014 and I find myself in the Saxony-Anhalt presentation area of Berlin’s International Green Week. I spied a bar from Landsberg and venture over, Pilsner and this beer available on tap: I order one of each and find a resting place. My 0.3 Litre came looking a very dark brown with a red hue in the light, on top a flowing tanned crown that stayed around for a while. The nose was malty, lightly roasted malts in fact giving off toffee and caramel esters. The beer wasn’t as sweet as the aroma suggested, the malty molasses being kept in check by the hop bitterness that came mid-sip and stayed to give a good dry finish. Like so many beers of this type, I found the body a little thin, it’s a style thing of course, but I just wish the brewers would give the beers more depth and strength of flavour. This is fine though and one of the better German black Pilsners / Lagers I’ve had.
