Pours a bright yellow with a large white, foamy head. Smells skunky. Taste was of metallic corn. Jimmy Buffett must make a ton of money off this one, but maybe he should just stick to margaritas.

I had this a long time ago in Hawaii before it hit the Midwest with a vengeance. I was excited to have a beer I had never had with such an interesting name, but was quickly disappointed as it’s basically American Corona (which means it sucks).

12 oz bottle. Nose is buttery, slightly limed lager. Taste is exactly the same. Extremely thin beer that would be great in hot weather, especially out in the sun. Not terrible, but it does fail on a few levels.

[bottle] This is a great alternative to corona, though is more expensive, best drinkability is on a hot day during a BBQ or while working in the yard. Aroma, appearance and palate are all very similar to coroana (read: not too exciting) but the taste is definitely better, other reviewers say it is saltier, which is probably why I didn’t quite put my finger on it. Drink it naked (get your head out of the gutter) or with a lime, either way is good.

Bottle. Mild aroma, faint melted butter with honeycomb. Very satisfying on a 90F degree day - thirst quenching and thin. Initial impression: salty Corona. However, once inside with the AC on (beer #2), this hits me like an average American macro (i.e. Bud). Not worth the premium.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 mmmbeer (1046) - Austin, Texas, USA - AUG 18, 2009
12 oz. bottle served in shaker- poured an easily transparent solid yellow color, low carbonation. Razor thin white wafer around the glass for a head. Aroma of hard water and a note of corn. Hits the mouth with a thin body, something that tastes like a malt hits the tongue, some lime in the middle, finish is like water. Not bad if you were on a beach somewhere, but I’m not, so oh well.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 popkow (212) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - AUG 16, 2009
Margaritaville arrived in a watery golden hue with little carbonation. Little flavor requires a lime and quenches thirst on a hot day.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2010 Bleh. Better than Corona or Modelo, when it’s not skunked. Still it’s hard to reason paying money for this.

At the price, not that great. Does compare to Corona but lighter, smoother. Probably won’t buy again, but I like heavier beers anyway.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Barreras (411) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - AUG 13, 2009
Pours a pale yellow color, almost clear. Very light tasting similar to all other commercial light beers. Nothing special.
