This Pale Lager pours a fizzy yellow beer color from a 12oz clear glass bottle. Large sized white fizzy head. The aroma is a touch of malt, some corn and some grain. A light bodied Pale Lager. The malts are grainy and sweet. The hops are floral. This beer is a sweet tasting pale lager. Its tough to find anything else to say that doesn’t fit in the American mass produce micro beer description. Its thin, too sweet and over carbonated. There is a cardboardy like aftertaste as well. Well at least this bottle isn’t skunky tasting. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is sweet. Brewed from Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville Brewing, I guess its better than a Corona, but I would rather just find that lost jigger of salt and have a Margarita.

A-B delivery guy dropped off two cases of this beer at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul. Margaritaville Brewing Co? Only A-B could come up with a name like that. Pours a clear golden pale brew with a fast dissolving white head that dissipates clean. Aroma of corn grits, some grassy hops and a touch of citrus. Taste is light bodied, much carbonation with flavors of watery light grain malt with a touch of corn and grass. Finish is slightly gritty with a clean aftertaste. But sure close to water.

Bottle (12oz - clear). A BMC pale lager - joy. Very clear, very pale gold, very white head, very quick diminishing. Smells like dry scorched corn and ditchwater - harsh. Tastes sweet - cheap sweet with wet newsprint and straw. Body like water-lite, hardly any carbonation, a wisp of astringency but mostly just a cheap harsh sugary aftertaste that lasted forever. Urgh.

Bottle. Pale yellow body with a white head. The aroma is grainy with fresh ground field corn and some grass. There is also some cake donut character. The taste has some sweet corn and grassy notes. Very sweet. The body is heavily carbonate and it tingles on the tongue. Not too bad, but way too sweet, even for the style. The finish is like unsalted corn chips.

Clear as Bahamian sea water and the color of the springtime sun. Smells like stone crabs roasting. Sweet and nutty like macadamia-encrusted halibut. LOL. All in all a good way to have a Homer moment.

Braudog (4607) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - JUN 10, 2007
From a clear 12 oz bottle, this poured clear yellow with a gluey white foam head. Soapy lemony aroma, what there is of it. The bland flavor is pure adjunct, corny malt and water. A misguided waste of valuable brewing equipment and talented brewers .. guys who can make beer with such consistency should be using those skills to make something with some flavor. Nose is corny and sweet adjuncty with some apple notes too. Pours pale golden, thin head. No lace. Flavor is all corny sweetness and gross grains. Lingering awful sweetness and gross mouth feel. Wow bad.

Bottle [12oz] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o garthicus. Pours a clear pale gold with an average size diminishing white head. Aroma is vegetal, grassy and quite sweet along with light floral hops and grain. Watery flavour, there’s not much there, has some light grassy hops along with sweet malt, grain and corn. Average bodied. Very poor stuff.

Comes in a clear bottle, Corona-style, and I’m sure this is the market these guys are targeting, with the whole Jimmy Buffet schtick. This beer is similar to Corona, light in body and flavour, but remarkably even less hopped.

muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - APR 2, 2008
12 ounce bottle from Richmond Beverage in Richmond, VT (April 2008) sampled out of the fridge from an appropriate Coors Banquet glass. For some reason I had a moment of excitement on seeing this, thinking I could finally scratch Florida off of my states list....but nope, just another Bud product. Anyway, the head is more stable than that of most pale lagers, white and creamy-fluffy; the body is totally clear light gold....mild, adjuncty (corn) aroma, but reasonably clean and fresh, lightly grassy....very sweet, sugary upfront, pretty dull and bland at midpalate, somewhat dry at the finish...no real hop presence, muted pale malts....bland but more drinkable than the majority of A-B products, certainly.
