UPDATED: JUL 17, 2009 My attention was immediately drawn to this beer as I saw its label in a supermarket in Brandenburg. In the middle of all those light bitter ("gold") german brews, there are still commercial brewers who bluntly advertise bitterness! Well, I know Jever does so too... But indeed, hops play the lead role here: The nose is primarily floral and hay-like, whilst the flavour shows herbal hops and even resinous and fruity accents. Don’t expect a hop bomb though, it’s not that well-hopped. Extremely pale yellow with a thick and foamy white head. The carbonation is slightly soft and the bitterness is... My guess is, somewhere in the forties? As Maria already mentioned, there is a somewhat irritating sweetness, but I’m still a fan!

500ml bottle, courtesy of tashi, 4th June 09. Extra hoppy pilsner. Golden with a white head. Aroma of bitter rather than floral hops, layered over the usual pilsner notes, likewise on the taste. Strong bitter aftertaste.

Bottle: A bit unclear with a bigger fluffy white head; sweetish-grainy nose with a big dry hayish-grassy hoppy touch; solid bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied; dry hoppy lingering finish. Fine, moreish hoppy session beer from Zgorzelec........

(bottle) Minimal hazy, light-golden colour with a big blond foamy head. Light-sweet and soft bready malty aroma with present herbal hops. Bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a calm carbonation. Light malty base with soft grainy elements and a good dash of herbal hops right from the beginning; (bone-)dry and almost astringent bitter hoppy finish. Likeable Pils (14.V.09).

The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass also. Tastes spicy, modest dry in the background. The finish is still spicy, not too bitter. Only the aftertaste shows an intense bitterness. Not bad, but strange.

Bottle 50cl.
Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, grain, bread notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is light medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20081004]

It is slightly hazy, warm golden with a white head. The aroma has notes of malt and fruit. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of malt, fruit and the finish is dry, but it also has a grain-like sweetness, that IMO disturbs the clean freshness, that I expect of a herb. The best before date is soon, but not yet, so it should not be a problem.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a diminished white head. Crisp and bitterhoppy aroma. Mild spiced and bitter flavoured with a light metallic note. Clean yet not utterly interesting. Bitter and dry finish with a lasting light spice note.

Bottled. A golden beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of straw and light notes of sulphur. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of straw, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks MiP for sharing.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of MiP. Clear golden with a white head. Hoppy, floral aroma. Medium body with a good malt base to balance the solid bittering hops. 041008
