Bottle. Clear dark amber with a short lived head. Aroma is powdered chocolate. Flavour is light milk chocolate, brown sugar on a wet bitter finish.

500ml bottle Clear amber colour with average, frothy to macropore, diminishing, off-white head. Minimally toasty and spicy caramel malty aroma. Taste is moderately sweet caramel malty, hints of nougat, nuts, toffee; light bodied and almost a bit watery.

Dieses Dunkel erweist sich als frisch im Antrunk mit etwas viel Kohlensäure. Im Geschmack dann nach obligatorischem Süßmalz, aber eben nicht so schrecklich süß wie sonst üblich. Eher herb im Abang mit Lust auf den nächsten Schluck. Landwehr-Bräu Dunkel schmeckt gut & tut gut.

Hazy light brown-amber. Slightly chocolatey, toasty on the light aroma. Sweet, with some almost candyish chocolate notes.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!
Das Bier im Glas ist dunkel kupferbraun mit gutem Rotstich. Die Krone ist grobporig perlig, und sehr schnell verschwunden. Der Geruch ist intensiv kaffeeröstig mit stark karamelligem Einschlag. Der Abgang zeigt sich ebenfall kaffeeröstig, mit karamelligen Tönen, und hier kommt sogar ein wenig Hopfen durch. Die Mitte bleibt intensiv kaffeeröstig und karamellig, aber auch der Hopfen weiss sich ab der Mitte, zart durchzusetzen. Das Finish endet dann wesentlich herber und hopfiger.

Tried this somewhere in Germany, not sure now. A decent dunkel. Dark and flavourful.

Pint on draft at the brewery. Had this as during a brewery tour/dinner while I was visiting Germany June 2009. It was an excellent tour of the brewery by one of the lady brewmeisters, and a wonderful traditional German dinner and beer sampling in the brewery’s taproom/ restaurant. Brown beer, beige head. Malty with light chocolate and caramel. A little coffee bitterness. A good but not spectacular Dunkel.

0.5 l bottle. Dark amber color. Sweet, nutty and caramelly aroma. Sweetish nutty, caramelly and toffeish flavor with hint of coffee and mild bitterness in finish. Very basic dunkel.

Brass color, firm beige head, adequate lacing. Sweet malty and hoppy nose. Hops and caramel in the finish. Not bad but a rather strange dunkel.

Bevuta in bottiglia a Rothenburg. Colore ambrato classico delle Dunkel, Aroma persistente e profondo ma a differenza di altre Dunkel un gusto quasi dolciastro con retrogusto molto persistente. Corpo medio.
Tra tutte quelle provate in Franconia è quella che mi ha colpito di più.
