500 ml bottle. A. BB 11/12. From biershop-bayern.de.
Clear dark brown colour with small to average size creamy tan head. Aroma is malt, metal and...chocolate (?) Flavour is strong malt, bread, mild hoppy bitterness, molasses and nuts. Hmmm... not the tastiest one. Not bad but... off the balance.

Bottle from Bier Imperium, Vienna. Dark brown color with huge beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, molasses, honey, spices, alcohol. Taste, roasted malt, honey, dark fruits, walnuts in background. Spicy, bittersweet finish with quite strong alcoholic feeling. Good.

0.5 l bottle at GBBF 2011. Sweet dark bread aroma and flavor with raisins and nuts. Fairly sweet and a bit cola like.

Bottle from Vino. Pours a reddish brown colour with a thin beige head. Very vegetal aroma of fig, cola and cabbage with smoky woody notes. Vegetal flavours also with a warming smoky malt character, cola again and some great grassy hops. Well masked alcohol. Metallic sweet treacle and cherry finish. Really different and recommended!

Well, you have to love these earthen, sweet but oh-so-naturally molasses and brown sugar, leafy, vegetabley maibocks. This is about as perfecto stylistically (or at the very center of my perceived maibock category) as one can get. Caramel, iron, blood and leather and said green matter in the aroma. Awesome chewy caramel flavor with some light-to-moderate bitterness. Light-to-moderate sweetness. Strong earthiness as already stated! Nice retained carbonation over a totally normal and attract deep brown with bone-to-ecru colored head, dense at first and not frothy at all. Very fresh (best before Sept 2011), bottle from Piwoteka.

(bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a rather short off-white foamy head. Sweet malty, caramelly nose with dried fruits and a light herbal hoppy blend. Sweet flavour, medium to full bodied, medium carbonation. Robust toast-malty taste with strong notes of caramel and a well-balanced, light-herbal hoppy background; sweet and quite fat but not sticky toast-malty finish with dried fruits and a present herbal hops character in the very end (spring 07).

Bottle, thanks pivnizub. Red brown chestnut, nice creamy off-white head, small bubbles. Light molassis, light aromatics, plum and nut aroma. Doppelbock base, light berries. Solid body. Very pleasant.

Bottle at the German beer festival at One Pint, Helsinki. Strong dark malty, sugary aroma. Taste as it smells, raisins. Very good. Dark cola colour.

Bottle@Quinns, London. Slightly smokey aroma, some lightly fishy aromas. Palate is lightly sweet and sticky, with some caramel and a fishy saltyness in the finish, and some light smokey notes. Warming finish. Quite nice i think.

A Sim rate (bottle at Quinns): Fresh perfumy aroma of caramel, chocolate and plum. The aroma is so nice that I would even give it an 8 if it wasn’t for the slight metallic tinge. Colour is a gorgeous dark red/brown. Sometimes red/sometimes brown. Taste is sweet and chocolately, but with a slight (again) metallic finish. Overall, it’s a very nice beer!
