An interpretation Biere de Garde made with 30% wheat.

Belle blonde qui titre 7°, composée de malt d’orge et de froment, quelques épices lui donnent un parfum d’agrumes qui font sa notoriété depuis plus de 30 ans.

Golden color, not much head. Fruity and fresh hoppy aroma. Hoppy bitter, lemony, almost IPA-like French. Good maltyness and nice hop profile. Tasty.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2006 After drinking French biere de gardes and Belgian abbeys for several months, the uniqueness of the hops in this one really struck me. It pours an unpromising, average, gold color with a fluffy, white, fine-bubbled head. The nose is the best I’ve ever encountered, and was the first signal that this was not as terrible as most of the beers in the north of France. Flowers and sweet spice dominate the nose. The taste is lightly acidic up front with a strong punch of fruit - perhaps a sweet, light-colored fruit like a mango or a peach. The alcohol is hidden tastefully, and the finish is a very malty-wheat trail with a lasting but soft aftertaste. This is superb.

Bottle. A fairly sweet, soft bere de garde, creamy mouthfeel, with notes of peaches and orange. Some caramelised sort of flavours, very soft, with some herbal bitterness. This was very nice.

Shared a bottle with NoiZe and skortila. Hazy orange golden color, off-white lasting head. Aroma is very strong, penetrating orange and citrus, with a hint of alcohol, bubblegum, caramel malt. Taste is sweet and fruity, slight alcohol burn. Long aftertaste.

Bottle best before june 2005. Aroma is heavy fruity, mostly orange. Malts and hops in it. Quite fresh. Hazy (tiny particles), orange coloured brew with a nice lasting head. It’s taste is not as pleasant as it’s smell. perhaps slightly unbalanced. Some sugar in it (sweetness), very fruity (orange and some other citrus), bit hoppy and malty. Decent body.

750ml bottle from Carrefour Calais. Pours orange gold with thinning white head. I like the aroma on this. Malty with good orange rind, slightly sweet with some spiciness. Good in mouth with a little bit of candy sugar, Finish is hoppy but the dryness is balanced by the candy sugar. Good citrus flavours and spiciness.
