An interpretation Biere de Garde made with 30% wheat.

Belle blonde qui titre 7°, composée de malt d’orge et de froment, quelques épices lui donnent un parfum d’agrumes qui font sa notoriété depuis plus de 30 ans.

Bottle. Brilliant yellow with a loose, diminishing white collar. Attractive, zesty aroma with notes of lemongrass, green herbs, mown grass, banana, pineapple, marmalade and sherbet- hard to tell what comes from wheat, yeast, spices or hops, and I like that uncertainty. Good grassy and marmalade tang, perfumey but not overdone ground coriander; tinned apricots and cream, good bittering balance. Enjoyable stuff all round.

Finally another Bière de Garde stocked at a local supermarket - I swear if these French people would just up the distribution they could get some better visibility, but then again, maybe they don’t want that. Pours beautiful yellow with huge head. Aroma is hops, corn, grass, alcohol. Taste is kind of a grassy-syrup, malty and caramel. Not on the top of my list.

33oml . A cool bottle label with two hill-billies looking depressed . Sets a good tone for this country ale. Aroma is ceral. earthy grains.minty hops ..fruit salad ..some ovbious malt , yo can tell’ it’ll be sweet tasting and some raw alcohol up the nose.
Refreshing de’ garde..you can feel you’re drinking rural France in liquid format. It opens with some earthy herbal flavour ,leading to rich syrupy sweetness. Dry spicy, minty hop bitterness , Saison-esqu. Some peach ester ,I reckon. A good, eazy to sink de’garde .

Bottle 75cl. A golden clear beer with low carbonation. The smell is very nice with lots of hops aroma. Taste is deep malty / wheat and quite sweet for me. The hops flavours are very nice with lemon and notes of fruit, grass and spices at the finish. A powerful body with cereal notes, some bitter oranges notes too. There is some IPA charater in this beer, very refreshing, not too alcoolic, this a very good experience.

Bottle at Le Carolus, Paris. Pours a straw yellow, aroma of yeast, lemons, dust and dried grasses. Flavors are yeasty, bready and grassy. Not sweet. Not fruity.

A refreshing blonde beer with powerful aromas of wheat. Easy to drink, you can take this all year even if it it takes its full dimension on summer time. I have belgian friends (experts on belgian beers) who are crazy about this beer.

Bottle, 7%. Fast gusher. Fruity aroma. Hazy golden colour. Nice stable white head. Creamy flavour, some malt and a little flowery hops. A bit too creamy, almost milky flavour. Low bitterness.

0.75l bottle from Village de la Bière Strasbourg France. Clear golden colour with a quickly disappearing fluffy white head. Fruity-spicy nose: peach, violets, vanilla and honey. Intensively malty with some very fragrant hops and hints of vanilla, flowers (violet?), honey, peach, mango and a spicy background. A very interesting perfumy beer, despite its 7% ABV it seems light and summery, highly quaffable.
