Bottle. Light amber coloured ale. Floral citrus smell. Tastes citrusy and slightly floral subtle hops. Nice and drinkable. Certainly a nice example of a session golden ale.

Cask (handpump) at the Great British Beer Festival Day 2, August 2009. Attractive clear gold colour. Clean & dry. Some citric hops. Pleasant enough. Another middle of the road Golden ale. It’s hard to say that without sounding critical but when a big festival like GBBF chooses to order huge numbers of very similar beers it is a bit tough to maintain unbridled enthusiasm.

Cask, handpump at The Nut Tree, Murcott, Oxon 10-01-10 Pours almost gold in colour maybe light amber but with a white head. In many respects this isn’t so very different from the Caudle bitter but for all the wrong reasons. I just tended to find this quite thin and lacking in flavour, the beer itself tasted fine, lightly bitter with some hops (but not much showing) reasonably refreshing and clean, and dry at the end. In fact it leant towards a lagery taste at times but I wonder whether this was because it was served a tad too cold looked gold and lacked a bit of flavour. It’s ok A6 A3 F5 P3 Ov11 2.8
