Bov (4744), Bienne, Switzerland May 15, 2008 courtesy of oh6gdx; labeled Joulu III - pours a clear red-amber colour under a solid persistant beige foam; perfect lace; slightly earthy aroma of toffee and gingerbread; some sweetness, very creamy mouthfeel, a moderate bitterness, quite dry earthy and slightly spicy finish - not bad at all ... and more a Vienna than a dunkel to me raymondwave (808), Finland Nov 30, 2006 Updated: Nov 22, 2007Nice dark coppery color. Very nice mouthfeel, good carbonation. Very good taste, a bit bitter and roasted. Nicely crisp like the original Lapin Kulta. I like this very much. This should be sold all year. Edit 22.11.07: This years product seems much more metallic and thin with not at all pleasant roasty bitterness, even tho they say it’s the same recipe as last year. Maybe needs another try before I change the rating. oh6gdx (6460), Vaasa, Finland Nov 20, 2006 Bottled. Rubyish coppery colour with mediumsized brown foamy head. Malts in aroma. Flavour is caramellish malts and slight hoppyness. Malty and earthy aftertaste. Drinkable, but the stronger version of this is lots better. Papsoe (11076), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 24, 2007 (Can 50 cl) Courtesy of tbone . Clear, orangey brown with an off-white head. Sweetish aroma of burned caramel. Medium body with roasted malt accents and some burned caramel. Very discreet bitterness. Quite drinkable. 230407 TBone (5172), Pori, Finland Nov 17, 2006 Can (BB 04/2007).
Copper-red clear color, big off-white head. Aroma of caramelly and slightly toasted malts, some grassy hops and metal. Carbonated mouthfeel. Dry toasted, malty flavor. Finish is grassy hoppy, a bit harsh. Drinkable Finnish 4.6%-beer. Similar to some Russian/Estonian dunkels.
