Large black pig is a deliciously rich creamy stout. Deceptively easy drinking with chocolate and coffee flavours that mask a mighty kick. Goes downn a treat with stew!

Bottle. Black with a small head. Dry maltiness dominates.Pleasant if uninspiring.

Bottle, Carringtons, Chorlton. Poured a seriously dark brown with a thin dissipating tan head. Aroma had a nice fruitiness mixed with the predominantly roasty character ,and this theme continued on into the flavour which was slightly sweet, with wood, dark chocolate and coffee notes. Slid down smoothly and a solid performer on the whole.

Bottle. Near black with a small beige head. Aromas are roast coffee and caramel with hints of liquorice. Some light berry. Flavours are coffee and smooth chocolate with a light woodiness. Mostly has a deep roast character. Fairly oily on the palate but in a good way. A nice stout.

Bottle from the good ol’ Dodgi’ Deli’, Cowley Rd, Oxford 02-04-09 Nice dryish aroma of burnt wood, little ash and roasted coffee. Poured very dark brown with tan head. Tastes very roasty, nice roasty malts, good dark fruity tanginess, some sweetness but this isn’t a thick heavy stout, there is a little creaminess but its big on coffee. Very enjoyable and it appears my bottle was a million miles removed from the one that cluny6 had. A7 A3 F7 P3 OV14 3.4

Yuk! Smells like a stout, looks like a stout but it does not taste like a stout. Coffee aroma with a bit of burnt plastic. Jet black with large head. Taste is sour, very sour. This does not taste like a stout at all, it’s more like a sour ale. don’t like it at all. F- for a stout, overall D
