3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Keg at Draft House. Cola colour, decent foamy off-white head leaves very thick lacing. Aroma has some lime and pine, dirt and coffee breath. Body is medium, low carbonation, a touch foamy. Taste is soft with some ash, pine, washing up liquid, soft bitterness, quenching fruitiness in the finish. Solid BIPA, but after a while the aroma becomes quite lactic which is off-putting.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask at London Drinker 13.3.14. Another for the dubious ’black ipa/ porter’ decision board. I’d argue this one could sit either side, but regardless it was very decent, and with such a high acid hop like apollo they are justified in calling it ipa. Nice thin black appearance with a warm aroma and little fizz. Taste is quite bitter, almost sweet and salty, with less of the citrus notes you’d get in an ipa, but a strong increasingly grassy bitter finish which is quite welcome. Really good stuff - one for an autumn night.
