3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask in the Cock Tavern, E8. Came a very dark black colour with not much head. Definitely an oily treacly feel, both in appearance and texture. As the blurb states it is hoppy but not overpoweringly so - allows the nice roasty stout character to come through and then leaves a nice moreish bitter finish. Good stuff!

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at the wenlock. Expected a pale ale based on the name but instead got a hoppy, bitter stout. Hops to start, fading to a modest stout character, decent, some cocoa aroma.

The taste is mellow roasted malt, earth, coffee, mild acidity, ash and decent bitterness with a lingering dry, roasted finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Would be nicer with better condition, but still alright.
