A delicious vanilla porter inspired by the melting pot that is America. Loosely based on an English porter but spiced up with whole vanilla beans from Mexico and Madagascar, it’s a deep, rich brown with a mocha head and plenty of luscious vanilla notes in the nose. The flavors are sweet chocolates, spices and smooth cream with just a hint of hoppy bitterness and enough kick to know this is no ordinary porter.

I had this beer on tap at the brewery. All I can say is that I got an intense flavor and aroma of vanilla extract. It wasn’t exactly balanced.

October 5th, 2013 - Vanilla Porters always impress me. It’s like Vanilla Coke - vaguely incongruous sounding, but ultimately delicious . Latitude is working with the same parameters, executing a sweet treat, delicious in its chocolate casing, but not especially engaging. The nose is the high-point, expressing vanilla and cacao, with touches of tobacco and chocolate, though milk, not dark at first. The aftertaste secretes more of a low, growling dark chocolate scent. That’s also the chocolate that appears in the aftertaste, with lots of Ghirardelli brownie served on a thin palate. Again, there’s plenty of sweetness here, and probably enough to serve alongside some ice cream or a hot brownie, but by itself, there’s not a ton to flirt with.

Some vanilla in aroma, burnt roast as well. Watery toasty flavor, no head no carbonation to speak of .

Great porter, vanilla coffee nose. Nice vanilla flavor. Good mouthfeel nit to big but not lean like some porters. Real enjoyable beer!

This beer is one of my favorite Vanilla Porters. The aroma gives you that Vanilla tingle. Amazing..

Sampled at the brewery on 3/21/2013. This porter pours an eclipse black color from the tap. Small to medium sized beige colored head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, vanilla and sweet. A medium bodied porter. The malts are roasty, caramel, chocolate and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. Nice balance. Vanilla is mostly in the background and is not overpowering. Very drinkable, nice and smooth. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This is a non-special beer, the taste is bitter and nothing else. All the talk about vanilla notes, smooth taste...don’t believe it.

Vanilla is very vague here. Can't detect much. Light body for a porter. Thin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Vanilla sweetness up front, with moderate roasted malts, sweet caramel malts, and a lingering vanilla finish. Pretty drinkable, but a touch too sweet.
