COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The smooth robust style porter ale features symmetry between the complex malts and hops required for the style. Black in color with deep streaks of dark amber, the medium bodied ale starts smooth with a perfect blend of caramel, coffee and chocolate and subtle yet crisp roasted malt flavors finishing clean and slightly dry.

Pours a carbonated dark brown with tan frothy head. Nose is chocolate and dark fruit. Light body, slight chocolate. Okay.

Glass out of a can. Pours a deep brown with a quickly fading tan head. Aromas of leather, chocolate, coffee and a little dark fruit. Flavor is full and robust. Lots of chocolate and roasty malt with a creamy mouthfeel and a bit of a burnt malt/coffee presence in the finish. Very nice.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 4/1/2014. Pours slightly hazy very dark brown color with a 2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, caramel, toast, dark bread, light herbal, and roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, roasted malt, coffee, toast, dark bread, light char, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Light earthy/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, caramel, toast, dark bread, herbal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of dark/roasted malt flavors; with a good roasted sweetness/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this was a nice porter. Good robustness and balance of dark/roasted malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Great malty and chocolate aroma. Flavors of rich dark chocolate, roasted coffee, molasses, milk and raisins with a surprising hop finish. An unsuspecting beer that I never heard of, but quite liked.

Can. Deep chestnut with a dark, beige head. Sweet chocolate aroma. Deep malt flavor while being pleasantly thin.

Pour from a 12oz can. Clear dark brew with tan head. Aroma dominated by roasted grain, hits of coffee and dark fruit. Taste starts with sweet malts and roasted grains, ends with sour hops and deeper roasted flavors. Full bodied yet with a nimble palate. Very good!!

Sampler. Pours dark brown with ruby edging and a thick darker khaki head that leaves some thick foamy lace behind. Nose involves roasted malt, some chocolate, along with piney and minty hop notes. Fairly sweet, but quite bitter. Medium bodied, oily, with a roasty bitter finish. Tasty, nice balance between flavors.

Hands down the worst porter I’ve ever had. Picked up a 6 pack of cans...drain poured them all. The beer lacks identity: Is this a brown ipa? A sour porter? If you didn’t tell me it was a porter, I would have guessed an over-hopped brown ale. Thin mouth feel, under carbed (even for a porter), off-putting aftertaste. The bitterness needs some smokiness or chocolate to off-set it, the hops are too prominent. There’s also a strange sourness that distracts me from trying to enjoy it. Definitely not recommended. So bad I cancelled my trip to the brewery. Buyer beware!

Draft to taster at Latitude 42. Looks solid; a fairly transparent light cola with light beige lacing. Smells of dark malt, roast, and mild chocolate. Tastes like it smells with an average, slightly metallic mouthfeel. Still, solid beer.
