masonjer (483), Holt, Michigan, USA Jun 19, 2008 Thanks to Brewdad for a crack at this. Poured a dark brown (duh). Nice malty sweet nose. Flavor is nutty, little bit of chocolate and some spice (pandan?). Fairly straight forward, but definitely one of the better brown ales I have had.
Haslinger (567), Syracuse, New York, USA Oct 7, 2008 bottle from kegbear, pours a deep, dark brown with a frothy white head. The aroma is definite brown sugar with a hint of caramel. The taste is very unique, it’s very dark tasting with a very different sugary taste. It’s interesting but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to buy again anders37 (2834), Malmö, Sweden Sep 20, 2008 Draught @ WABF 2008. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Roasted malty caramel aroma. Roasted malty caramel and chocolate flavor. Aromas of roasted malts, some sugar sweetness and pleasant leaf notes. Nice and roasty, some sweetness, leafy, nutty, a little sugar. I really liked this one. Enniskillen (1626), Port Angeles, Washington, USA Jul 12, 2008 Brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is roasty, caramel, hazelnut, toffee. Taste is a toffee, caramel, nuttiness, with light chocolate. Nice depth for a brown ale. Crit (2258), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Jul 6, 2008 Brown, small beige head.
Not much here, light sweet nose and palate, which is spoiled by a light tinny aftertaste
