3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown pour with ruby highlights. Dense tan head, nice lacing. Pretty foamy, as foam began oozing out of the bottle neck even though I'd opened it gently.
Medium mouthfeel, fairly high level of carbonation without being overly bubbly.
Roasty, slightly sour tang, brown bread, coffee, cocoa.
Roasty malt, slightly vinous, sherry. Coffee, cinnamon.
Nicely balanced. The tangy sourness was an unexpected bonus. I quite enjoyed this one and will seek it out again.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz bomber This was purchased at Capital Ale House in Innsbrook. The porter poured a deep black with huge beige head that slowly dissipated . This porter with a lot of coffee flavor. The roasted malt aroma with notes of coffee and chocolate. The taste was full of roasted dark chocolate with notes of licorice and coffee. The finish was of sweet chocolate and coffee. Big time porter.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Appearance: near black, with one finger of chocolate milk-colored head. Aroma: roast, burnt coffee beans, bitter chocolate, a hint of vanilla and chalk. Taste: bitter and acidic, slightly burnt espresso over very dark chocolate. Finish: dry, very acidic, and bitter. Notes: I normally really like coffee-infused porters and stouts, and this one is clearly well-regarded. I didnít care for it at all, and found it way too acidic, which you tend to find in very unbalanced coffeeíd beers. Perhaps it was that I had it during NoVA Brewfest 2013, which may have detracted given the heat and humidity.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Deep espresso brown pour with a thick, creamy brown head. The head pulls back rather quickly, leaving no lacing and a modest oily slick. Fresh coffee permeates the air with just the slightest roasty/smoked malt presence. Iím a huge fan of coffee souts/porters, and this one has one of the best true coffee flavors that comes to mind. Really fresh premium quality coffee. Itís sort of on the sweet side, but then it takes a turn with the bittersweet dark cocoa to finish. This is a coffee drinkerís beer for sure. Really fine stuff, but at $7 for the bomber itís not a repeat drinker.

7/6/13. 22oz bottle shared by Brian at his moving/cellar cleaning party. Black pour, maybe more of a dark, dark brown, with a small khaki head. The nose is hit right away with a touch of sourness and big green pepper aspects from the coffee... sour green peppers - my favorite! The flavor is a bit less peppery, but still coffee and veggies, again with a touch of sourness. Not great.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Beautiful pitch black pour with a thick brown head. Delicious coffee flavor on top of a strong porter, but an amazing coffee aftertaste.
