3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
650ml bomber pours black in color with a generous light mocha head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aromas are of chocolate and coffee with a slight presence of dark fruits. Taste is a chocolate and raisin sweetness with a mild coffee bitterness. Medium to heavy body with light carbonation. This is the second stout/porter I have tried in a week that I have detected a fruity presence, strange yes, bad NO. Another unique and interesting brew. Highly recommended.

Bottle, shared with JJ. Pours the colour of molasses (but not the thickness, thankfully), with a reddish-brown head. Bold coffee aroma and flavour, "raw" if that makes any sense (i.e. there is a fairly strong vegetal character in addition to the hearty roast), with dark chocolate notes. Roasty bitter finish. Silky body, delicious.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours nearly opaque black with deep ruby around the margins, a fat finger of tight beige head, great retention, excellent lacing. (5/5) Nose is creamy chocolate giving way to dark coffee and dark roasty malt. (8/10) Taste is moderate sweet and moderate bitter, coffee astringency. (7/10) Full body, smooth and creamy texture, lingering astringent finish. (4/5)
Starts with loads of chocolate, and even a hint of milky creaminess, before the coffee takes over. The high ABV is very well integrated, with barely even a gentle warming on the finish to warn you of its presence. Generally pleasant, well-balanced, and well-behaved. The single biggest flaw - and it’s not a big one - is the way the coffee takes over with its intensity and astringency, through the middle and into the finish. A pleasant sipper regardless. (16/20)

Nice and dark. This coffee porter has a nice smooth blend of chocolate malt and coffee that comes across on the tongue. It also feels silky on the tongue. I would definitely drink again.

Coffee porters are just a damn good idea. The dry, roasted sensations created by coffee are usually a killer match for the bittersweet characteristics of a good porter. Anubis does an excellent job at harnessing the properties of both beverages. The aroma has a nice mix of coffee and toasted malt. I would like to get more of the floral aroma of fresh coffee but I like the smell of earthy roast. Flavor is pretty deep, all considered. Coffee flavors are especially strong but you get some cocoa, too. I did, however, want a little more complexity. Anubis may not be the best Coffee porter out there, but I sure enjoyed drinking it.
