3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: † Black, thin sudsy tannish head, sticky lacing. † Assertive coffee nose, soft roasted malts. † Coffee and roasted malts on the tongue, moderate sweetness. † A touch of dark chocolate. † Hard to believe this is 9%. † Seems very well hidden. † Body and mouthfeel are moderate. † Finishes with a sweetened coffee, heavy with cream and sugar, with minor roasted malts. † Pretty simple, but clean and enjoyable. † Only wished it were a little more chewy.

Coffee porters are just a damn good idea. The dry, roasted sensations created by coffee are usually a killer match for the bittersweet characteristics of a good porter. Anubis does an excellent job at harnessing the properties of both beverages. The aroma has a nice mix of coffee and toasted malt. I would like to get more of the floral aroma of fresh coffee but I like the smell of earthy roast. Flavor is pretty deep, all considered. Coffee flavors are especially strong but you get some cocoa, too. I did, however, want a little more complexity. Anubis may not be the best Coffee porter out there, but I sure enjoyed drinking it.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A- Coffee, mocha, cocoa.
A- Black color, black liquid, tan head.
T- Coffee, mocha, bitter cocoa, robust, complex, rich, slightly malty.
P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, rich finish.
O- Wow, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I think itís fair to say that this is almost as good as FBS. Almost. The coffee really stands out and shines through and creates a very rich and robust flavor and aroma that is hard to beat. This may be slightly underrated if anything.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bomber pours with a nice deep dark body that supports a near creamy mocha colored head. The aroma offers up dark roasted coffee, some molasses, a few crumbs of chocolate chip cookie and a dash of black licorice. The taste delivers similar notes like dark roasted coffee sweetened by malts and molasses. It then heads into mild earthy to spicy black licorice sort of maltiness into the finish. Tasty brew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 22oz. It pours a black body under a dense, light tan head of moderate size. The aroma has loads of coffee, some vanilla hints, roasted malts and a pleasant touch of dark chocolate. Pretty nice, but not fantastic, and that goes for the flavor too. It feels both dry and sweet at the same time, which is a bit disturbing. All the good found on the nose is present, so is a little hoppy bitterness. Itís full bodied and lightly warming, very soft on the palate, almost velvety. Lasting finish, lacking a bit on the coffee. Sure a nice one, but a bit easy on the coffee I think. 140511

On draft at Churchkey in D.C.
The beer is near black with a small beige collar. The aroma offers a robust coffee nose with dark chocolates. Decent flavor, with bitter chocolates, finishing dry. Medium in body with light carbonation. Overall, this is decent, but not a repeat for me.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown almost black pour with a light tan head. Aromas of coffee with notes of cocoa and toffee. Flavor is big roasted coffee at first with plenty of malts to back it up. Slight sharpness on the front of the palate that I canít quite put my finger on. Overall, pretty good brew and nice coffee character to it. Bottle courtesy of DandyWolfFloyd, thanks man!
