2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
22 oz bottle via Liquid Sol. Pours a dark reddish brown, not quite black with a huge head that sticks around for awhile. Nose is toffee, roasted grains and dark fruit. Taste is roasted grains, earthy hops, and a sour finish/aftertaste. THink this is infected a bit.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nectar. Pure nectar. Truly an IPA that utilizes both hops and dark roasted malt to achieve maximum bitterness. Aroma is dark semisweet chocolate. Flavor is charcoal-chocolate bitterness, with malty notes - showing almost woody notes. Flavor has an underlying sweetness that reminds me of bittersweet chocolate - but at the same time the grassy hops are not absent on this one. This one takes an easy #2nd against Stone XI as far as Black IPAs go. Learn it - it is a new style. Explore it. Enjoy it.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
The body is a dark but transparent chestnut brown color. A medium sized, foamy, beige colored head settles to a thin film, leaving sticky, bubbly bands of lace on the glass. The aroma is heavy on pine and spruce hops, with hints of candied bitter orange peel. Generic dark fruits and hints of roasted cacao nibs show in the malt base. Flavors are bitter up front, pine and fresh, green grass leading the charge, while lightly sweet, scorched caramel and baker’s chocolate finish things off with balance. Grassy notes return on the lingering finish. Medium-plus body with balanced carbonation, the palate is on the dry side. Slightly astringent, but not overly so. Overall, a very solid brew in a genre that I’d like to see more of. Think Stone 11th Anniversary light.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I admit I approached this one with a bit of trepidation. I was never a fan of the fad of making white wines of Red wine grapes. I never thought I’d like a black IPA. but..
Bomber. Poured pitch black with lasting foamy beige head. Huge floral, citrusy and bitter aroma. Much lacing. Full hoppy flavour, with a touch of roast malt. Lingering hop finish. Great on a warm day.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours dark maroon and almost black with a big tan head. Smell is diacetyl butteriness and some dark hoppiness. Some metal as well. Taste is very dull and bland. Extremely watery with a light buttery and super subtle hop finish at first along with a bit of char. Unfortunately, not that great... Medium to soft body and medium carbonation. Drinkable, but not a winner, for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
bomber from a trade with suzygreenburg. pours deep brown with a rocky tan head. aromas of west coast hops, with some roasted malt dark sugars, and some medicinal aspects. very strange flavour of hops and roasted malts. this takes some getting used to but im enjoying it more and more as i drink. not rich enough to be a hoppy stout but coming pretty close. i love the west coast hops in this. itd be a damn fine ipa if they had stuck to traditional ipa malts. pretty good overall. thx mr bottoms!

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Excited to try this but bitterly, very bitterly, dissappointed in the results. Way too much burnt malt character and nuttiness that I did not find meshed well with the IPA hop profile. Lots of rough citrus and an aromatic floral component that was ruined by the burnt malt. Not as good as Stone’s 11th.
