3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Rattle & Hum. Mid to dark brown, thin white-ish head that laces wonderfully. Nose is verry hoppy, sourness from the cooked malts, grassy bitterness. Mouth is hoppy bitter attack, water mid-taste with a touch of fragrant oiliness from the hops, then lasting bitterness. End is full and with the roasted malts coming through, leaving a touch of warmness and a long malty mouthfeel. Straightforward but wonderfully composed.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from the bomber. The head is intense, four finger, wtf. Couldnít pour easily. Aroma is mild and unfortunately tainted by my previous beer. The flavor is dark malt and hop, pretty nicely balanced the way a cascadian ipa should be.

More black than ipa but still decent. Roasted malts and toffee take over and give to light hopps. Big thick foamy head.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a light cola colour with soft off white head. Smells like citrus and some strawberry. Very nice. Flavour falls a bit flat. Thin and malty up front, but it does finish with a nice, lasting bitterness. Decent.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from a refrigerated bomber into a snifter. Pours a very dark brown with an enormous beige head of foam that lasts forever. This beer takes a very long time to pour.10 plus minutes. The aroma is very piny and earthy with just a hint at some caramel roasty notes in the background. The hops, although rather apparent in the taste, donít seem to be bringing much of a bitter assault. Perhaps they were mostly late addition? I donít know, but the bitterness is definitely more of a second thought than anything. Roasty comes to mind while sipping this beer. I get some vanilla and leafy notes, too. Itís like drinking the forest.

22 oz. from Uptown. Pours black with a tan head. Smells hoppy like an IPA. A little too much roasted flavor for a black IPA. Not my favorite but I would never dump it out. :-)
