We begin with slight variations on our traditional Cream Ale recipe. Real huckleberries are added during the last minutes of the boil to lend a subtle berry aroma and flavor.

Can. It poured a straw golden color with a white head. The aroma was of huckleberry, quite different, with hints of pale malt and yeast. The Taste was similar to the aroma with more malt and yeast and a crisp finish. Interesting. Thanks Hayduke!

6 oz pour from refrigerated bottle into nonic pint. Orange and a bit hazy with a weak white head. Nose is sweet huckleberry. Very sweet. Like huckleberry syrup. Light bodied. Taste is a little cream and a hint of huckleberry. Not as much as the nose would suggest, though. Otherwise light and drinkable. The aroma is much too sweet for me though.

01.23.15 store label. Poured from a 12 oz can into a mason jar style glass on 02.03.15. A: Strong huckleberries that could be smelled while pouring an arm’s length away. A: 2 finger head. It stays at a constant 1 finger after receding. Hazy yellow orange body. T: Huckleberries dominate. Grain and sweet malt (caramel?) are subtle. P: Smooth and creamy. Bubbles are on the back. Very refreshing. O: It is simple like a cream ale usually is, but it’s good. It’s sweet like a dessert.

From the 12-oz. can (with a pasted-on label), Laughing Dog Huckleberry Cream Ale has a thin, white, quickly-dying head, an opaque, sediment-filled, orange-gold appearance, some stray bubbles, and no lacing left behind. The aroma is of odd wax paper, fruit acid, sweetness, huckleberries, berry skin, and white bread. Taste is of acidic berry juice, white bread, and background bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and somewhat chewy, and this beer finishes wet, fruity, and somewhat repelling. RJT

12 oz can poured. Pours orange witha big foamy white head. Sweet fresh strawberries on the aroma. I imagine it’s a lot of huckleberry as well, but like almost everyone, I’m more familiar with strawberries, and that’s what i notice. Flavor is strawberry as well, though light. Nice berry flavor with a slightly dry finish. This beer is exactly what I expected it to be. Light, easy drinking beer with a mild fruit flavor. Not bad.

Poured from the can pale gold with a smell of fruity soap wafting through the air. The aroma is light, and smells as though I should be taking a long hot bath and soaking in these suds. The head caps it off with a very bubbly linen-white that is completely gone. leaving no trace at all within just a few minutes. The first taste is not the soap I was expecting, but a sharp, metallic accompanied by the delicate traces of huckleberry within the light-bodied beer. The liquid has a sweetness after the immediate metal on the tip of my tongue and bottom lip, and the aftertaste is pleasant. It may be the only truly pleasant quality about this brew, the aftertaste. It holds everything the beer itself should be; huckleberry goodness, creamy goodness, dry, short finish; no metal or soap. Won’t buy this again, will pour the rest of the beer down the drain.

12 ounce can from Hayduke. We had it together via facebook chat. This beer is quite hazy golden and a bit dingy. Just a little off white head lingers nicely. The aroma brings spices and camomile. The flavor is just off the charts different from any cream ale I have had. It has a lot of camomile flavors and what I guess is huckleberry. Whatever that is. As a cream ale this is really interesting.

Well, for some strange reason I like fruit beers when summer comes, and had this in the fridge without drinking it. Now that it is cold, I decided to give it a try. Canned. Hazy amber color. Nose of berries, sweet, background of honey. Tastes dry, light flavor, modest fruit, especially on after taste. I know how hard it is to get really strong fruit aroma from fruit alone and the pressure to add some natural WONF flavoring to enhance the beer. It appears Laughing Dog did not go this route, as the flavor appears naturally fruit-derived to me. Many of the blueberry beers I’ve tried have been ruined by addition of fake flavoring. Not this one, it is quite nice.

12 oz can. 141130. (Shenandoah Hops) Staunton, VA.
Cloudy golden colour with a tiny off-white head. The aroma is some berries and cookies. The flavour is some sweetness, berries and malt. Thin.

12 oz can bought from LIfesource Natural Grocer in Salem. $1.69 Have to say this is the most beautiful can for beer i have seen. Pours a hazy yellow body with a large bubbly/frothy pure snow white head. Very nice sweet berry/floral aromas..i could smell it as soon as i began to pour.slight biscuity malt. Invigorating. Well balanced taste with the berries coming out in the end. Crackery/biscuit malts. Great drinkable palate on a hot ,humid sweaty night this went down a treat. Very very good fruit flavoured cream ale. Will be getting a six for the weekend grill out.
