COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sneaky Pete is a blend of five hop types: Simcoe, Glacier, Centennial, Vanguard and Hallertuaer, with Simcoe playing the dominate role at 30%. In addition, three separate malts were used: Honey Malt, Rye Malt, and Munich Malt. The brew has a copious aroma of white grapefruit, citrus overtones, a complex rich middle and long flavors in the finish; a real beauty. Finished with wild clover honey.

Pours pale red/marble brown with a huge head that became a problem while pouring. I had to work around it. The aroma has a lot of malt and hops, and a background quality that reminded me a little bit of the smell of crayons, and I don’t mean that as a bad thing at all. The flavor is so smoothly malty that this is, to me, kinda like a heavily hopped red ale. The malt is just very rich, and there are notes of ginger and a little rye, but the big, bitter grapefruit citrus at the end just screams IPA. I liked this beer a lot.

Pours a dark orange with a tight medium head. Aromas of pine and citrus some sweet malts. Flavor is started with some pine and grapefruit, immediately turns caramel sweetness. Good beer for a barley wine but too malty and sweet for a iipa.

Bottle in NYC. Pours rich Mber with a soft, frothy head. Rich, sugary malt aroma, some juicy pine. Big sweet flavor, lots of sugary citrus, grapefruit, bread, brown sugar, caramel, pine. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm, resinous finish, lots of sticky berries, ripe melon, papaya and grapefruit. Kind of hot, boozy. More like a barley wine if you ask me.
