OhioDad (2492), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Sep 6, 2007 12oz bottle shared by Sliffy & Pud - Pours dark brown with a short tan head. Aromas of chocolate and lots of roasted malts. Flavor is sweet milk chocolate, lots of roast and a good dose of lactose in there too. Low on carbonation with a sweet mouthfeel and a little bit of a watery palate. Not bad.
stchloe (253), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 7, 2008 After waiting a good half hour for the head to subside, what was underneath was so-so. Over-carbonated. buddahmind (39), Boise, Idaho, USA Mar 27, 2008 Draft Front Door Boise. Heavy dark malt flavor, not so much chocolate or coffee as the nose might suggest. Hops for sure. Good lacing and a medium body. Nicely done as usual from Fred and the folks @ Laughing Dog! presario (2501), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Mar 25, 2008 Sample tray. Dirty sticky lacing looks like caramelized sugar. Very dark brown beer. Rich sweet coffee and cream nose. Body and flavour are thinner and not as sweet as the aroma promised. Still good coffee flavours with notes of chocolate. DuffMan (2139), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Mar 23, 2008 Pours a black-brown with a robust brown head, leaving behind some early lace. Bitter chocolate, dark roast, hint of prune in the nose. Lively carbonation early, seems to play itself out to become a more creamy mouthfeel later. Chocolate liqeur, coffee roast, hint of greenstick hoppiness. Quite rich, and very tasty. Skyview (3063), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Mar 9, 2008 Received a 12-oz bottle via trade with André. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thin tan head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and tan ring. Aroma of toasted dark malt, some flowery hops, a touch of coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is medium to full bodied, light carbonation with flavors of toasted dark malt, coffee, some sweet chocolate and light marshmallow sugar. Finish has a touch of coffee and a strong Nestlé bittersweet chocolate that lingers around after the finish.
