Pours black with a medium-brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, vanilla, sambuca, earth, and char. Flavor is semi-sweet with similar notes of dark chocolate, licorice, earth, and slight vanilla. Finishes bitter and roasty with less bourbon flavor than Id expect. Substantial carbonation and average alcohol presence. I enjoy bourbon barrel aged imperial stouts generally, but this seemed to take on very little barrel character and was just pretty ho-hum.

"My favorite style and even substyle of brew. While this isnt among the ELITE, it IS pretty damn good, and at $6.99, this is the "everyday" BB stout in this area. Velvety smooth feel, if a little sweet. The aroma would be a 7.5 and the feel an 8.5 if i could do so. The flavor is similar to the aroma but theres a little tiny offness to the aroma (vegetal) not present in the flavor. Very chocolate/mocha forward with a good dose of vanilla from the barrels and notiecable hops. Pretty nice brew that disappears wuick at nearly 11%. WAAAAY better than the fd up bottle of the base beer that Ill never bother with again as long as this one is around."

22oz bottle: This one pours a opaque, very dark brown color. It has a light brown head, and no lacing. A bit of bourbon to the nose. Some oakiness also. Getting some chocolate malts also, but no sweetness. Some vanilla and roasted malts also. The taste is good. Some bourbon and alcohol flavors. Chocolate, hint of vanilla, some roasted malts and some of the oakiness. Not bitter, but they have balanced out most of the sweetness. Not bad!

Toasted aroma with a slightly sweet finish. Caramel with a bitter end. True to the style and worth a try. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 9/24/2012. Pours dense pitch black color with a 2 finger dense dark tan head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, molasses, toast, toffee, vanilla, oak, cherry, fig, prune, light char, light smoke, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and oak barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, toast, char, molasses, toffee, vanilla, oak, light bourbon, light smoke, and roasted earthiness. Moderate roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, char, toast, molasses, vanilla, oak, light bourbon, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and balance of robust dark/roasted malt and moderate oak barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a smooth, creamy, and fairly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice barrel aged imperial stout. All around nice balance and complexity of very robust dark/roasted malt and moderate oak barrel character; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

On tap at World of Beer SMU. Poured a abyss black with a khaki head and some nice lacing. Taste of dark chocolate, bourbon, oak, and roasted malts. Medium-high carbonation, thick body. Damn good.

So beautiful and pleasant smelling...so disappointing the taste and flavor. Smokiness and bitterness overpowers any sweetness.

Ok imperial stout that leans heavily on the barrel taste. Some roast and dark chocolate, with nice dark brown pour with good head and lacing. Finishes with medium bitterness. Tap at Dodge City.

Smell is very cherry like... unexpected. Chocolate covered cherries. black with thick tan head. Taste is medium dark chocolate and a cherry twang? Bourbon in the finish. Pretty good and unique. Body is a bit thin for style but still a bit creamy. Pretty nice but really threw me from what I expected which is nice sometimes.

06.04.2014, 0,65l bottle @ home, courtesy of RobertDale:
7-5-7-3-13 Big brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, dark malts, dark fruits, licorice, coffee, dark sugar, caramel, oak, grass. Taste is slightly sweet and oaky, dark malts, dark fruits, sour coffee, grass, caramel, sweet licorice, oak, paper, dark sugar. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice enough, but still far from the sweet vanilla bourbon delight that I really like these kind of beers to be.
