Bug black pour huge thick fluffy brown head. Big toasty malt aroma hints of chocolate touch of vanilla and a bit of alcohol. Thick palate a little fluffy. Choclolates a touch of vanilla a little over roast hint if coffee tiny hint of bourbon and butter notes. OK a bit dissapointing for the ratings I saw.

Deep black pour with orange-tan head. Nose smells like cheap vanilla, licorice, degraded hops, brown sugar, toffee, spearmint, and faint bourbon. Flavor is a deep roasted malt with plenty of bitter chocolate/cacao nibs, light licorice, and a dry oaky/faint bourbon finish. Gritty, big mouthfeel. Was surprised by the flavor on this one and at the price, certainly was a steal.

Stouts III Tasting. Opaque black - brown big tan head. Softish palate with fine carbonation. Minerally carbonation. Mellow chocolate, dark malt and a bourbon. Mild lactose. Chocolate finish. Pretty decent but I seemed to be the only one to dig it. Probably shoulda had this before the big Bruery’s!

Bottle @ Stouts Tasting Pt III: Brokeback Edition. Cheers Kenny. The pour’s deep brown with a tiny khaki head. The nose is berry comoote. Oak. Chocolate. Some roasted coffee bean and cocoa. The taste is accented by peppery hops. Hints of bourbon. Big charred malt body. Soft sweetness. Mediumm body, a bit abrasive. Overall, a bit of a comedown. All bark and no bite.

Bomber pour to snifter. Aroma had some sour milk to it, but not in the taste. Dry, roast coffee taste; smooth, simple. Okay, but not outstanding in any way.

Bottle at Stout 3 & Freestyle Tasting, thanks to Ken. It pours very dark brown with a small tan head. The nose is rather sweet.... caramel, roasted malt, coffee ice-cream, toast and molasses. The taste is roasted malt, earth, toast, dark fruit, tangy berry, cocoa, caramel, ash, some alcohol warmth and light jamminess. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Pretty decent imperial stout.

Bottle at the Stouts Pt. III & Others Tasting - London. Thanks to Kenny. Pours black-brown with a tight, creamy tan head. Some lightly tangy dark malts in the nose, bit of roast, dark leather. Medium sweet flavor, a bit more tang, so e baking cocoa, bitter earth. The tangy edge seems a bit out of place. Full bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Lightly warming finish, some tangy dark malts, bitter cocoa, light bitter earth. I would say the beer is a little infected.

Bomber->snifter. Black with tan head. Aroma: strong coffee, molasses. Taste is same with definite booze presence. Good oily mouthfeel. Very good.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2013 Pours dark and smells strongly of espresso. Basically the palate is espresso and hops. It’s good but not amazing. Lots of beers like this one nowadays.

Good stuff but I’m really biased on this type of IS. Bourbon aroma with woody sweetness on the nose. Very dark with a caramel colored head. Light palate that an oily character. Roasted malts, caramel, woody, and bourbon. Might have needed a little more balance in the flavors. This has aged for at least a year so I expected a little more. Some fruit essences as well.

Very dark brown pour, nice looking tan head with red hues and good lacing. Nose is sweet roasted malts, vanilla, some wood, raspberry as it warms. Taste is very sweet malts, molasses, vanilla, light wood, cherry, bitter black coffee and oak in the finish. High carbonation, medium sticky mouthfeel. While I would have liked more barrel character, this exceeded my expectations.
