Tap @ Horse Brass. Listed as Bourbon Barrel Aged Barleywine. Pours dark amber, quite beautifal. Nose is boozy and sweet. Taste has a big toffee and bourbon punch. Tasty barreled barley wine.

On tap at Laurelwood. Colour...cloudy amber-brown with little head. Nose...butterscotch, burnt toffee and a bit of papier mache. Palate...plenty of CO2, then a quick burst of brown sugar followed by a tangy toffee flavour and a bitter turbinado finish that lingers for a fair while.

On tap for Brouwers Hard Liver.
Pours deep ruby/crimson with decent head but quick dissipation, nice lacing. Smell is a lot of vanilla oak. Taste is sweet bourbon vanilla, creamy fuller body, ashy. Good with a bit of a boozy finish.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 trevor211 (991) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 4, 2012
On tap at Brouwer’s Hard Liver ’12. Pours a transparent red. Boozy, bourbony, caramel-soaked fruit on the nose -- really nice aroma. Butterscotch galore in the flavor -- something like Mrs. Richardson’s (a childhood favorite), in front of ripe tropical fruits, and a bourbon/vanilla layer, too. Nice.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mcberko (2475) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 4, 2012
On tap for Hard Liver ’12, pours a cloudy coppery orange with a small tan head. Aroma of bourbon barrels, sweet caramel malts and soy sauce. Flavour of bourbon barrels, soy sauce, some hop presence and booze. ABV isn’t well-hidden and the palate is a bit confusing. Decent.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Sammy (6129) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 4, 2009
A wonderful bottle that allowed us to stay late outside with a dropping to cold temperature. Pours a lasting off-white soapy head. Only a mild bourbon aroma. The bourbon taste was secondary, it was a good ale that rallied our food and was drinkable to the last drop, with no significant sediment. Above-average even a bit creamy mouthfeel.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 riversideAK (4568) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - DEC 18, 2008
Lots of dark fruit on the aroma accompanied by vanilla and boozy sweetness. Dark amber pour with a thin head. Flavors of sweet toffee, raisins, prunes, vanilla, alcohol. Bourbon sweetness comes in and lingers in the finish. It becomes rather boozy as it warms.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 boFNjackson (2936) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 18, 2008
Tap @ Horse Brass... Poured amber with a white head, nice lacing. Malty aroma but not as robust as a lot of barley wines. Nice dry palate with strong hops and the fruity flavors and barley-malt were well present in the background creating a strong balance. Some enjoyable alcohol flavors but also easy to drink.

5oz Taster - Fred Fest 2008 - Hair of the Dog Brewing - Portland OR
Aroma – Strong Bourbon aroma along with the fruitiness of the Barley wine.
Appearance – Dark Amber in color, no head and clear.
Flavor – Strong flavors from this brew. Bourbon, fruit and a strong oak in the taste also. Liked the deep flavors this was a well designed beer.
Palate – Great Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry barley wine finish.
Overall – A very nice beer this was aged well and the barrel was very flavorful. Loved the slight bourbon flavors and the fruitiness that came out. Great stuff.
