COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Green Elephant is green because itís made from organic malts, and elephant because of the Amarillo, Ahtanum and organic Cascade hops. Itís medium-bodied with a subtle malt underpining and an explosive hop flavor and bitterness. Dang, the elephant is hoppy.

Bottle thanks to my summer secret santa. Pours a clear gold color with a big pillowy head that fades slowly and leaves good lacing. Aroma is dank, overripe citrus fruit with peaches, malt, and herbal hops. Tastes a bit harsh. The herbal hops seem to cover up the nice peach and citrus hops a bit. Caramel malt shows up in the bitter, dry finish. Pretty well made but just not the flavors I usually look for in an IPA.

22 oz bottle from Trader Joe in Salem OR $4.49 pours a a nice clear burnt orange coloured ale. Nice lively carbonation strings rise from the bottom of my glass. Large rocky, bubbly white head. Lots of citrus and herbal hop notes in the aroma, Almost like lemon drop sweeties used to like in Scotland. Taste is less sweet but the taste is of lemon, grapefruit and peach in the hops. Very exuberant. The caramel malt in the back ground prevents it going over the top. Nice smooth easy going mouth feel very nice for a summer quaffer. Nice beer so easy to drink for its strength. So be careful out there!

On tap. A: Cloudy orange with a fluffy off-white head. N: Pine, grapefruit, oranges, leaves, earth, biscuit. T: Quite bitter. Moderate sweet cracker. M: Alcohol burn, dry medium body. Resins. Touch watery. O: Dry west coast IPA. Doesnít lose the hops in the malt. Solid beer in a crowded field.

Draft at tjs. Pours clear amber with a small off white head that dissipates quickly. The aroma has pine, some grapefruit, a bit of a caramel maltiness. The taste has a nice bitterness, sweet grapefruit and orange juice. Very nice.

Bitter and bracing double from this Oregon brewery. Amber in color with small beige head. Hops kick in immediately, sharp and biting. Everything expected from a double.

2009 on Draft. Aroma: Fresh, floral hops with light fresh pine, touch of orange malt Palate: Great balance Flavor: Medium-rich orange malt followed by dried orange and medium pine. Finishes with lingering dried orange bitter spice, white pepper, light pine. Comments: Not overblown. I could order a 2nd one; would work very well with food.

Smells lightly of caramel malt and more so of the resinous and citrus hop aromas. Copper golden color with some haziness and a long standing frothy off white head. Taste is medium resin hop bitterness followed by the medium-light caramel malt sweetness. Medium mouthfeel, bitterness on attack, balance in middle and hops persisting in fairly lengthy and dry finish. Moderate carbonation and a sticky yet creamy texture. Another great beer from Laurelwood. Plus itís organic...yeah! Too bad itís seasonal!

Big Hops aroma, floral and fruity nice malt flavor mixed with the grapefruit and clove. This was a very tasty IPA. They do a great job here at Laurelwood Brewing.
