On tap at Laurelwood PDX, pours a hazy golden orange with a medium off-white head. Aroma brings out shitloads of herbal hops, a little pine, and a solid malt backing. Flavour reveals extreme notes of herbal, pot-like hops, pine, and just enough juicy biscuity malt to back. Coats the palate in juicy hops. Extremely potent and palate-wrecking. Delicious stuff, only for hopheads.

Bottle. I just recently found about this brewery and was happy to get a couple of their IPAs to try. Orange-gold color with a very nice fluffy off-white head on top that sheds lacing after each sip. Sappy pine aroma with some floral notes, citrus oranges, a little honey, and doughy malt. This is a bit slick and creamy in the body with caramel malt underneath a blast of hops, mostly pine and a sticky resinous character, but some tropical fruit sweetness too. Sharp and bitter in the finish, the hops are certainly at the forefront in this one, as they should be. Thereís some light alcohol sting but for a beer pushing 10% itís very drinkable and a well put together brew.

On draught at 2013 Hopworks Biketobeerfest. Dark amber golden color. Aroma is sweet tart tropical citrus fruits. Taste is also a mix of sweet citrus and tart tropical fruit, with a pleasing resinous mouthfeel. Aftertaste is a mix of pineapple and grapefruit. Reminds me of Workhorse IPA but slightly amped up.

This is one that I NEVER thought I would have seen without a trip to PDX... Instead it was enjoyed 4-5 times tonight at the 10 Barrel IPA fight/fest. Pours a light orangish with a tight white head. This is one of the most hop forward beers I have ever had and still is a "bit" balanced... tons of tropical fruits and huge citrus zest... tangerine/red grapefruit.... and hints of pine on the finish. Lighter than should be body... carbonation is nice. For 9+% this is a teddy bear... drinkability is off the charts... super beer for sure.

Bottle poured an amber in color with a coating of white head that dropped back to a ring on the glass. Aroma has sticky malt, caramel, pine, citrus, sweet fruit, and flowers. Mouth feel is medium with good coating and plenty of carbonation. Flavor has citrus, light bitterness, pine resins, caramel malt, and a lingering pleasant finish. The malted side is plenty strong but it has loads of hops that shine as well.

Bomber from PC Market of Choice in Ashland, OR. Pours translucent light amber with a creamy/foamy white head. Mild citrus/cat pee aroma. Med + body. Flavor is citrus/pine with a good dose of floral. No heat. Not a lot of malt either - just enough to hold the hop. Moderate hop burn. Finishes extremely flavorful, hoppy, and somehow almost not dry. Brilliant ale.

On tap at laurelwood. I first had this months ago and yet it wasnít on RB :0/ So here I am now. Colour...deep amber with a thick white head. Nose...sweet, hoppy and piney with sugar sirop to boot. Palate..eminently frothy and very sweet with a particularly grapefruit like tendency. Thereís a very plush feel on the palate and even though thereís loads of grapefruit, it all seems quite balanced. The finish is long and somewhat cloying but still quite balanced. Iím curious to try the bottles Iíve snapped up!

Recommendation of writerljberg, both the beer and the place, thank! Hazy golden amber color, white edge head. Amazing tropical fruit aroma. Taste is bitter and fruity. Delicious.

Bottle. Winner of the Brewing News National DIPA championship. A: Dark orange with a lazy white head that settles into a ring. Tiny bubbles are running up through the glass. Leaves some stains on the glass. N: Thereís quite a bit of dried pineapple here, and a modest amount of mango, tangerine, and grapefruit. Some onion drives through the middle as well as some crystallized sugar. Hops are definitely at the forefront here, leaving very little room for the malt. Very nice. T: Very big and very well balanced. Both the tropical sweetness and a pleasant bitterness combine to make this a worthy sipper. M: Big bodied and sticky at the beginning, and then very dry by the end. I love the effect, honestly. Thereís a very pronounced alcohol here, so watch out. O: It doesnít break any new ground, but the ground it treads is quite worthy. I can see how this ended up the winner of the DIPA grouping among 65 other beers. Think Iím going to go finish the bottle now.

Tap @ Laurelwood Sandy spot... Poured amber/golden-orange with a white head. Nice lacing. Thick mouthfeel, big grapefruit tones and other citrus. They nailed the west coast taste with so much ripe hop notes and resinous characters lending to dank onions and black pepper spice. Without being too bitter. This was super balanced even without the malt coming in too much to play. And hardly any alcohol presence. Crazy good.
