Bottle from msubulldog25. Thanks for the generous bonus!! Pours black with some tan head. Smell is caramel, chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is dry chocolate, a touch ashiness, caramel, and coffee. Thin to medium body with normal carbonation. Pretty solid all around, but a bit light on the palate and a touch so in flavor as well. Still very enjoyable.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - JAN 29, 2009
On tap at Belmont Station. Black body with a tall khaki head. Big roasty nose, lots of chocolate. Damn hoppy imperial stout, a bit overly bitter, could use some time to mellow the bitterness and take away the sharpness. Nice anise flavor shows in the finish along with lingering cocoa. Very dry finish, highly carbonated, cuts the body a bit.

aromas of roast malt, sour mash, resin & chocolate--full to bursting. A beautiful inch of brown head over an opaque darkness. surpisingly light in body. sweeter in flavor--chcolate,licorice, dryness, with background hops and roast.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2009 First rating of 09. Bottle... Poured black with a brown head. Roasted aroma that was nutty with caramel and toffee. Light carbonation on the tongue which enabled the alcohol flavors to be balanced. Other flavors of coffee, roasted malt grains, and sweet caramel with a dominate smoked tone. Very creamy and a frothy, Irish Cream-like finish.

Tasted at Laurelwood Pizza in PDX--Poured a opaque dark black-brown body with a thick tan head. Peaty, nutty, chocolaty flaovr with hits of creamy milk chocolate in there. Finished a little weak considering initial flavor. Still quite good.

I got some of the last of this before it ran out the other night at the pub in Portland. Thich and black, there is no seeing through this one, and a huge creamy dark brown head. Big coffee flavors along with some slight nuttiness like a hazelnut and some rich chocolate as well. Finish is somewhat sticky and syrupy but not quite cloying. A decent solid Imperial.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2007 Extremely thick with a big chocolate liquor flavor and aroma. Smoky and rich, similar to Old Rasputin. Very sweet finish with cherries, milk chocolate and bourbon. Not much behind the rich, overpowering chocolate syrup flavor, but still nice.
