Flat black-brown glass of beer with a tight dark chocolate and light roasted aroma with no off-smells or seepage of ethyls. Thinnish body with a sapid roast chocolate flavors. Would wish for a more lively body and thicker mouthfeel, but quite well-crafted and highly drinkable.

Dark Brown in color, clear with thin brown head. Thick dark malt and chocolate aroma. Big alcohol flavor and dark chocolate flavors. This was rich full and flavor filled. One of the best Impy Stouts in the world. Too much will catch up fast.

Bigg ass 1-liter swingtop thanks to hannot; thin, oil black with tan head to the edges; roast with a little sour as well; lots of chocolate and dank fruits; texture is quite thin overall and flavors improve as it warms; oily and thin; pretty nice overall

Quick stopover @ PDX on the way to SFO...it’s about 8:40 in the morning on Monday, so I’m peeking my head into the Laurewood BrewHouse at the airport to pass some time, 2 more hours before my final leg...Pours almost black with a medium, frothy tan head...aroma is full of roast and cocoa, burnt wood...flavour is suprisingly well integrated, burnt bitter chocolate, very light malt, espresso...very heavy for a relatively tame ABV by Imperial Stout standards...finish is a biting hop and charred wood bitterness that lingers for while, with only the slightest metallic edge...this made for an awesome breakfast!

Had this on tap, recently, at Laurelwood’s main location in Portland, OR. Colour... black with a thick tan head. Nose... roasted malt and dark chocolate chips. Palate... spritely CO2, tangy, bitter edge, roasted malt, black coffee, anise and a tangy finish.

Pours purple-black with a lacy tan head. Sweet full body, medium carbonation. The aroma and taste are hocolate from start to finish, with just a touch of espresso.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ChainGangGuy (3837) - Canton, Georgia, USA - APR 6, 2009
Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with ruby-hued edges when held toward the light and topped by a short-lived, tan head.
Smell: Aroma of roasted malts and charred wood, with notes of chocolate, caramel, dried herbs, and a small handful of loose change.
Taste: Sweetish dark malts with a fairly restrained roast character and subsequent flavors of unsweetened chocolate and caramel sauce. Much to my dismay, it’s at this early stage that the flavor begins thinning out considerably. Vague herbal and wooden flavors wrapped in a medium amount of bitterness. Faint metallic hints. Finishes dry but abruptly.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-low carbonation.
Drinkability: While by no means is it a bad stout, it does come up short in terms of malt depth, overall flavor, and body. Still though, it’s worth a try.

Jet black, creamy tan head. Oily, inky, very sticky. Dense dark chocolate, up my alley.
