Ty5592 (1009), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 2, 2008 I was just telling my wife last night that I was gonna drink Olde English for my 1000 rating, Come to find out that this beer is #1000...Damn!! Maybe Olde English for #2000? Anyway, 1L red wax dipped 07 bottle. Pours a hazy deep amber/orange color with lacing type head. Aroma was malty and fruity with light citrus hops. The taste was the same with smooth medium sweetness. Nice balance between the sweet malt and the cirus hops. Rich and thick on the palate. Soild BW.
slimchill (694), Austin, Texas, USA Nov 1, 2008 Bottle. Sweet caramel nose with light spice. Cloudy brown with thin head. Good lacing. Well balanced caramel and light alcohol presence. Good thickness and well-balanced. hopdog (4779), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 26, 2008 1 liter, red waxed, flip top bottle. 2007 Vintage. Poured a medium and hazy amberish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, some dark fruits, with a trace of citrus. Tastes of caramel, dark fruits, and some woodiness. Alcohol burn in the finish. acrdz (4493), Boulder, Colorado, USA Oct 26, 2008 Sampled from a bottle. Nose is semi-harsh meaty old ale chewy oxidized caramel malt. Heavy alcohol all over this one, big and bold for sure. Slightly oxidized old creamed plums, wood, stale pipe tobacco and sugar. Heavy on the tongue, astringent and harsh. Oxidized cardboard and wet paper and doghair, that doesn’t sound so great but overall it was still nice enough, just suffered a little too much from oxidation. oreogobbler (202), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 23, 2008 Pours a cloudy dark orange. It looks polluted with a swirly cream colored head.
Hoppy alcohol aroma, liquorish, and oak.
Sharp hot and cherry liquor, oak, and bourbon.
Palate is syrupy and thick, a little sharp but then mellows to a smooth tasty flavor. lb4lb (1546), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottle shared at tasting by Jonathon. Thanks man!<br />
Pours a nice cloudy rich orange caramel color with a light beige head. Looks nice in the snifter and smells good too. Rich caramel like malt and light hops on the nose. Taste is dry and hoppy and with warm caramel and light grassy hops that give it a nice brightness in the end. Very light alcohol. Very tasty, balanced, leaning towards hoppy and one of the better beers at the tasting, I thought.
