Bottle. Sweet caramel nose with light spice. Cloudy brown with thin head. Good lacing. Well balanced caramel and light alcohol presence. Good thickness and well-balanced.

1 liter, red waxed, flip top bottle. 2007 Vintage. Poured a medium and hazy amberish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, some dark fruits, with a trace of citrus. Tastes of caramel, dark fruits, and some woodiness. Alcohol burn in the finish.

Sampled from a bottle. Nose is semi-harsh meaty old ale chewy oxidized caramel malt. Heavy alcohol all over this one, big and bold for sure. Slightly oxidized old creamed plums, wood, stale pipe tobacco and sugar. Heavy on the tongue, astringent and harsh. Oxidized cardboard and wet paper and doghair, that doesn’t sound so great but overall it was still nice enough, just suffered a little too much from oxidation.

Pours a cloudy dark orange. It looks polluted with a swirly cream colored head. Hoppy alcohol aroma, liquorish, and oak. Sharp hot and cherry liquor, oak, and bourbon. Palate is syrupy and thick, a little sharp but then mellows to a smooth tasty flavor.

Rich caramel like malt and light hops on the nose. Taste is dry and hoppy and with warm caramel and light grassy hops that give it a nice brightness in the end. Very light alcohol. Very tasty, balanced, leaning towards hoppy and one of the better beers at the tasting, I thought.
